1800RESPECT would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land and pay respect to Elders, both past and present and extend our acknowledgement to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Please be aware that this website may contain the names, images and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who may now be deceased.
The National Plan
1800RESPECT has been funded since 2010 as part of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022. 1800RESPECT was established as part of addressing Outcome 4 of the first National Plan: ‘Services meet the needs of women and their children experiencing violence’.
On 17 October 2022, the Australian, state and territory governments released the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032 (the National Plan) which builds on the previous National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and Children 2010-2022. Clear actions to implement the National Plan will be outlined in two underpinning five-year action plans and a dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Action Plan. The National Plan provides the framework and vision that will guide actions across all of society towards ending gender-based violence in one generation.
1800RESPECT continues to provide high-quality support for people affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.
