Abstract

[edit source]

QueeringW is a workshop for (potential) attendees, contributors and partners of the Queering Wikipedia conference *(first of its kind), with the aim of giving insights on how to join and maximize use of opportunities of informing, networking, accessing resources and making it most useful for all. It will also discuss why and how it is urgent now.
The Conference is focused on movement growth and innovation and provides 3 conference days to bring together our global LGBTQ+ community in a variety of events to discuss ideas and share opportunities to improve open knowledge about and for LGBTQ+ content within the Wikimedia movement. This is both a thematic event promoting reliable open knowledge about and for all LGBTQ+ communities and a growth event focusing on capabilities, capacity, diversity and the representative authority of the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group for all Wikimedia language projects.

Learning Outcomes

[edit source]

Deeper understanding of the Queering Wikipedia 2022 and 2023 plans, as well as how to join and partner to make it both exceptional in Wikimedia and locally/specifically for ones own community. For contributors this might be about how to make the most of multi-track and multi-lingual event opportunities. For partners on how to setup physical node events for their own in-person participation to have hybrid experience of events.
