"It’s not enough for Mam.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani brushed off Gov. Kathy Hochul’s state budget proposal that came with a pledge not to hike income taxes — saying Wednesday he’s going to push for an increase anyway.
It’s the latest move by Mamdani to pull Hochul to the left to align with him and his liberal supporters’ goal of soaking wealthy New Yorkers to raise billions to pay for a freebie-filled agenda that includes free bus fares." . . .
Individual Liberty In The Crucible Of History: 5. The Road to Collectivism
. . . "The destitute succumbed easily to the explanation that they were victims of oppression. Some men may be honestly convinced that they know what is best for all of us; at any rate, collectivism offered a mode for reformers and planners— men caught in the grip of a compelling yision— to use government to embody their ideas in law and practice. By these and other paths did Americans gather upon the road to collectivism.
"Historically, however, the shift to collectivism was made in the following manner. Men organized themselves in interest groups for the pursuit of common goals. They included such groupings as farmer alliances, labor unions, business associations, and professional organizations. These organizations frequently sought privileged status at law, and to bring the force of government to bear upon Americans to make them accede to their demands. When they succeeded, they contested with one another for superior position, and preyed upon both unorganized individuals and other groups as well. This neofeudal system (strangely enough, many “liberals” called it progress where labor unions were concerned) created a situation rife for the

"The Democrats who voted to advance Bill Clinton's resolution were: Reps. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., Summer Lee, D-Pa., Stephen Lynch, D-Mass. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., Emily Randall, D-Wash., Lateefah Simon, D-Calif., Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich." . . .
Jonathan Turley: January 22, 2026: Democrats Join Republicans in Voting the Clintons in Contempt of Congress . . . "Yesterday, a curious thing happened in a House Committee. Bill and Hillary Clinton were actually held accountable for flouting the law — at least as a preliminary matter. In the House Oversight Committee, Democrats joined Republicans in approving contempt resolutions against the two political figures after they refused to appear to answer questions about their connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
" The House panel voted 34-8 to advance the resolution on Bill Clinton to a floor vote. It voted 28-15 to advance a resolution on Hillary Clinton.
"As previously discussed, the Clintons adopted a position that was devoid of any cognizable legal defense. It was simple hubris, telling Congress that they did not want to appear to be saying that congressional subpoenas are discretionary for them.
"From the Whitewater case to the Lewinsky matter to the email scandal, the Clintons have always escaped accountability for their actions. Courts can find perjury and prosecutors can find classified material without a criminal charge. Evidence can suddenly surface after investigations, or thousands of emails can be destroyed without any repercussions.
"After that history, it is little surprise that the Clintons would believe that they, unlike other Americans, can choose whether to comply with a subpoena. After standing in flagrant contempt, the Clintons only reaffirmed the sense of entitlement by offering to allow an interview in New York without a transcript. There would be no “what the meaning of ‘is’ is” moments." . . .

"He's here this week with his billionaire sugar daddy, Alex Soros, and Davos is a perfect place for a man who – when everyone else is on lockdown, when he was having people arrested for going to church, he was having thousand-dollar-a-night meals at the French Laundry – and I'm sure the California people won't forget that.
"And, my message to Governor Newsom is the Trump administration is coming to California. We are going to crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse.
"And I was told he was asked to give a speech on his signature policies, but he's not speaking because what have his economic policies brought? Outward migration from California. A gigantic budget deficit. The largest homeless population in America. And the poor folks in the Palisades who had their homes burned down. He is here hobnobbing with the global elite while his California citizens are still homeless.

The White House called California Gov. Gavin Newsom a nobody who has been “frolicking around Switzerland,” in response to claims the Trump administration shut him out of an event at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Newsom’s press office had said the White House and State Department denied the governor entry to a “fireside chat” Wednesday hosted by Fortune that the democrat was invited to speak at. The White House fired back at Newsom’s claim, saying the governor is not a priority for them, a Trump spokeswoman exclusively told The Post.
"But on Wednesday afternoon, even bigger news dropped: the president announced that he had negotiated the “framework” of a deal regarding Greenland, the autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark that he wants the U.S. to control to counter Russia and China. Because of the breakthrough, he also announced that he will not go through with tariffs on European countries that were scheduled to go into effect in early February.
"The president took to his favorite social media site, Truth Social, for the announcement:
. . . "The deal isn’t just about Greenland — it’s about the whole Arctic Region, Trump wrote: Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations.
"When discussing Greenland, only properly oriented maps should be used.Any media that shows a traditional map implying that Russia and China are on the opposite side of the planet are purposefully misguiding the American public.Every sailor and aviator understands Great Circle Navigation - showing anything else is a lie."
"Europe will now avoid the steep tariffs Trump had planned for eight countries:" . . .More...
- Within the European Union, Giorgia Meloni has always taken a pro-Atlantic stance, accentuated by the Italian prime minister’s close relationship with Donald Trump. Since the Greenland crisis erupted, Meloni has insisted on the need not to sever ties with the American president, which has angered the Italian opposition, who accuse her of betraying Italy and Europe.
- On Thursday, January 22nd, the European Council is set to examine the activation of the anti-coercion instrument requested by French President Emmanuel Macron.
- In this highly tense context, Meloni is striving at all costs to maintain balance.
"Highly tense may be something of an understatement, but Meloni is managing to walk a pretty decent tightrope through all this." . . . More...

Whatfinger "Bill Hemmer breaks down why Greenland is at the center of rising competition in the Arctic, using maps to explain Russia’s Arctic base footprint, China’s growing interest, and why geography matters for future defense strategy.
"That reaction misses the point.
"Beneath the blunt language and headline-grabbing delivery lies a strategic argument rooted in geography, military physics, alliance realities, and the accelerating competition among global powers in the Arctic. Trump’s fixation on Greenland is not a whim. It is the product of a long-running belief that the island represents one of the most valuable pieces of territory on Earth for American security.
"Failing to secure it would amount to a historic act of negligence.
"Trump’s public interest in Greenland first emerged in August 2019, when reports revealed that he had privately asked advisers about purchasing the island from Denmark. He confirmed the interest himself, describing Greenland as strategically interesting and emphasizing the close alliance between the United States and Denmark. At the time, he framed the idea as exploratory rather than urgent, noting that it was not the top priority on his agenda." . . .
Any conflict here will mean nothing to those in the streets supporting Hamas, Democrats, and all anti-ICE. Those people would love America to fall to any communist or socialist power. Forbes "The aircraft carrying President Donald Trump to Davos was forced to turn around and return to Joint Base Andrews late Tuesday, after pilots detected a “minor electrical issue,” meaning the president flew to Switzerland on a backup jet.
. . . "Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is already in Davos, told reporters that Trump will arrive there at least three hours later than planned due to the issue with Air Force One.
What Do We Know About The Presidential Jet?
"The aircraft initially carrying President Donald Trump to Switzerland was a Boeing VC-25A, the specialized version of the 747 jumbo jet that primarily serves as Air Force One. The ageing aircraft has been been serving as the presidential transport since 1990, and Boeing has been working on a replacement VC-25B, based on the newer 747-8 Intercontinental. However delivery of the new planes has been delayed from its initially planned date of 2024 to 2027. Trump has regularly voiced his frustrations over the delays and has threatened to seek out alternatives.

"While the Air Force operates two VC-25A’s, ADB-S tracking data showed the president and his delegation flew to Switzerland onboard a Boeing C-32A, which is based on the Boeing 757. Although the C-32A has occasionally been deployed to serve as Air Force One, the plane is primarily used to transport other senior officials like the Vice President (under the call sign Air Force Two), the secretary of state and the First Lady. With Trump on board, however, the smaller jet is still called Air Force One, as that is the standard call sign for any Air Force aircraft with the president on board." . . .
Daily Mail Online: . . . "The incident aboard the presidential plane raised concerns about whether the aircraft used by US presidents needed to be modernized.
"The two planes currently used as Air Force One have been flying for nearly four decades.
"Boeing has been working on replacements, but the program has faced a series of delays.
"The planes are heavily modified with survivability capabilities for the president for a range of contingencies, including radiation shielding and antimissile technology." . . .
Air Force One’s recent history of malfunctions after Trump forced to delay arrival in Davos . . . "Trump has frequently complained that the two specially modified Boeing 747s currently serving as Air Force One have been in service for almost 40 years and are in need of an upgrade, an argument seemingly reinforced by Tuesday’s scare.
"His predecessor, Barack Obama, shared the same view and awarded Boeing a contract to build two new VC-25B planes as replacements in 2016, although they are still not expected to be delivered until 2029, a matter of frustration to Trump, who is likely to have left office before they arrive."
"Whether it’s the newest entrant into the Star Trek world or a day in court, leftist women, with their relentless faux “mommy-ness” demean our world."
"One of my earliest memories dates to when I was three or, at most, four. Every day, I was glued to our black-and-white TV watching Romper Room, a television show for preschoolers. Miss Nancy opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and then conducted a 30-minute preschool class.
"This is what Miss Nancy was like back in the 1960s:
"It’s very sweet, very loving, very patriotic, and very appropriate for the 3-5-year-old set.
"But what happens when an entire political party is taken over by a horde of Miss Nancys? And worse, what happens when those Miss Nancys don’t focus their energy on raising normal, patriotic children (indeed, they want fewer children in the world, and think infanticide through abortion is brilliant), and instead want to use their warped maternal longings to scold and dominate the world?
"Well, to begin with, you have Holly Hunter in the new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which is being roundly castigated as the worst show ever in a swiftly declining franchise. Once, Starfleet ships were led by the manly, rakish Captain Kirk or the fierce, scholarly, and, yes, manly, Captain Picard, or even the firm but feminine Captain Janeway. These captains never forgot that they sat on top of the chain of command in an enterprise that, while exciting and exploratory, was also a military ship of the line with life-and-death consequences for bad decisions—and, for that reason, they always comported themselves with dignity when at the helm.
"Then there’s Holly Hunter’s character. Hunter plays Nahla Ake, the chancellor of the Academy and captain of a ship. Her backstory is that she threw away her entire career because she sent a felony murderer to prison...a female felony murderer, which meant separating the woman from her child. “Separating children from their parents,” she says, “isn't exceptional, it's reprehensible.” You can just hear the writers (mostly women) saying, “That’ll help people understand why there should be no borders, and America should nullify all immigration laws!”. . . . One of the comments to Ms. Widberg's article: . . . "As I’ve said before, third-wave feminism has destroyed women. I can defend first-wave feminism (voting, property rights) and second-wave feminism (equal work and equal pay for equal abilities). What I cannot defend is a generation of women who were taught that they are simultaneously queens and victims, mothers and murderers, and geniuses and hook-up sluts. It’s a world of cognitive dissonance that has made too many women crazy and very, very unpleasant."
"After the shooting [of Good], the streets were lined with “heart-shaped signs featuring quotes by Assata Shakur, a radical black liberation activist who fled to Cuba in the 1970s after being convicted of murdering a cop.” What message do you think that is sending?"
"Secondly, Martin intimated martyrdom, asserting that “tens of thousands are marching after the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good — demanding justice.” So, there you have it. The dimwit Democrats are trying to create their next George Floyd. An ICE agent shot Renee Good because after being told to exit the vehicle, she backed up and took off with her car aimed at him, before she hit him, leaving him with serious internal bleeding. Good broke the law and attempted to use her car as a weapon against law enforcement officers. This means that law enforcement officers then have the right to discharge their firearm in self-defense.
"Next, in responding to someone who criticized his post, Martin responded with insults about President Trump, but then showed his true intent for his warped narrative, for he said, “See you at the ballot box in 2026.”
"Martin is not about truth. Martin is not about Renee Good or protestors in Minnesota. Martin is about taking a tragic story and spinning it to what he believes is his advantage to confuse voters into voting for more dimwitted Democrats in the 2026 election. Martin is wickedly evil." . . .
. . . "Dimwit Democrat governor Tim Walz and Mayer Jacob “small” Frey both have continued framing the incident as “entirely the fault of ICE.” Walz and Frey are wickedly evil, only concerned with pushing a narrative from which they can attempt to gain power at the expense of deranged, delirious, and dangerous Democrat supporters. After all, these citizens are merely pawns in the eyes of wickedly evil Democrat politicians like Martin, Walz, and Frey." . . .
