Iran Inflation Rate Rises to 3-Month High in June
The annual (point-to-point) inflation rate in Iran picked up to 31.9% in June (Khordad) of 2024 from 31% in the preceding month. It pointed to the highest reading since March (Esfand) mostly due to the rise in cost of food and non alcoholic beverages (25.8% vs 22.7% in May) which continued to rise for the fourth month. Other contributors the increase were housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (41.2% vs 41.8%); transport (21.7% vs 26%); health (33.2% vs 30.3%); clothing and footwear (34.1% vs 35.5%), and furnishings, and household equipment (25.5% vs 27%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up by 2.7%, the same pace as in the previous month.

Iran Inflation Rate at Near 2-Year Low
The annual (point-to-point) inflation rate in Iran eased to 35.8 percent in February of 2024 from 38.5 percent in the previous month. It marked the lowest inflation rate since April 2022, with food prices rising the least since September 2020 (31.6% vs 38.9% in January). Also, prices moderated for transport (29.6% vs 38.8%); health (32.1% vs 35.5%); clothing and footwear (44.3% vs 46%), and furnishings, and household equipment (33.5% vs 34.3%). Meanwhile, costs of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels accelerated slightly (40.7% vs 40.6%). On a monthly basis, prices increased by 1.4%, the least since May 2021, following a 2.6% gain in the previous month.
