Hindenburg felâketi, zeplin tarihinin en büyük faciasıdır.

Hindenburg felâketi 6 Mayıs 1937 tarihinde, New Jersey'deki Lakehurst donanma hava üssünde gerçekleşmiştir. Yapılmış olan en büyük zeplin olma özelliğini taşıyan LZ 129 Hindenburg, bilinen adıyla Hindenburg Zeplin'i (Almanca: Luftschiff Zeppelin №129) ani dönüş yapmasının etkisiyle kopan iskeletin, zeplinin havada kalmasına yarayan hidrojen tanklarından birini delmesiyle oksijenle karışmış ve statik kıvılcımlanma ile bir anda alev almıştır. 36 saniyede zeplinin içinde bulunan yolculardan (36 yolcu ve 61 mürettebattan) 36'sı hayatını kaybetmiştir. Bu facia daha sonra, modern havacılık tarihinin başlamasına sebep olmuştur.
