We are proud of all of our alumni, simply because the range of their work and their imaginative powers can be so astonishing.
No two graduates have gone on to the same career. Some, such as Marcia Gay Harden, Mahershala Ali, Billy Crudup, Corey Stoll, Andre Holland, and Daniel Dae Kim have gone on to major film and stage careers. Some, such as Deb Messing, Rainn Wilson, Michael C. Hall, Danny Pino, Sterling K. Brown, Josh Radnor, Maggie Siff, Jin Ha, Angel Desai, Dina Shihabi, Genevieve Angelson, and Jeremy Shamos have entered the national consciousness through their work on television. Some, such as Steve Kazee, Jordan Gelber, Julie Benko, Amber Gray have found success in the musical theater, while many of our graduates—such as Crystal Lucas-Perry, Nina Arianda, David Costabile, Frank Wood, Maggie Lacey, Marchánt Davis, Jeremy Shamos—have compelling, varied careers on our national stages and on Broadway. Some of our graduates extend their artistic lives beyond the realm of acting: Danai Gurira has achieved acclaim as a playwright and an actress, Glenn Kessler is a gifted writer and executive producer for television. Yet, much of their creative imagination has been nurtured in the Grad Acting Program.
Our alumni speak a common language—“grad acting”—which connects each one to another across the decades. So many professional projects involve a network of our graduates working together, whether it’s the creative and performing talents on Damages or the Broadway production of Disgraced, in which half the cast were our alums, or the Off-Broadway sensation An Octoroon, which used a wide variety of our graduates.
We prize every student who has spent three years with us on the Fifth Floor. Please click below to peruse but a small measure of their selected achievements.
