Nicole Miranda

I am a chemical engineer with a DPhil (2016) obtained in the Energy and Power Group, Department of Engineering Sciences of the University of Oxford (Mansfield College).

I work with an interdisciplinary team at the Oxford Martin School’s Programme on The Future of Cooling. My research is on sustainable technologies and am currently applying numerical and analytical tools to understand and shape the upcoming demand for cooling. I have three main lines of interest. Clean transitions of fluorinated gases (f-gases), future global cooling demand and using passive technologies, either exclusively or combined with active cooling. My previous doctoral research experience includes the reduction of greenhouse gases in dairy farms through biogas production.

After being a tutor at Christ Church College, I arrived at Pembroke in 2022 as a College Lecturer in Engineering. There I share my passion for energy systems by delivering tutorials to second year students on this subject. I also teach first year students Mathematics – an essential foundation for their years of Engineering ahead.
