Hey

Two things: 1, I'm glad that someone else around here wants to work on the TFCC pages. 2, I have a bunch of the older stuff like bios and what not saved onto my harddrive, including the Mini-Cons and the TOTGD bios, and if you e-mail me, I can get you some of them. Escargon (talk) 10:22, 10 June 2017 (EDT)

Hey!
1. I'm new here and am starting to grasp that the 'never-ending ocean of editors who all know more than me' is not actually as large as I thought, so it's nice to have something that I feel I can meaningfully contribute to. I'm surprised that, for all the arguing about Ask Vector Prime nuances and stuff, people don't seem to be that enthused with the FunPub stuff. Personally I really enjoy the Shattered Glass stories in particular and their main pages are a disservice.
2. It took me forever to track down a lot of the FunPub media on the internet, and I actually found a lot of the Mini-Con bios. 46 of them, to be precise, so if you have any more than that you can send me the lot via [EMAIL REDACTED]. In terms of the TOTGD ones, I only have Stopgap's so I'd really appreciate those. I also have a tiny bio-card for Chromedome and Rewind titled 'INSIRT', so if there's any more like those that'd be awesome. Finally, I have all the MTMTE profiles published in the TFCC magazine but am pretty sure I'm missing a few from the Timelines issues.
3. Speaking of bios, I was wondering how they should be treated in terms of character pages. Some characters have profiles included in their 'appearances' as a story source, but many profiles go completely unmentioned on those character pages. Is it worth including a very short sentence in the 'appearances' section for characters with FunPub bios, if only with the intent of saying 'they got a bio here'? I know there's varying degrees of these things as story sources, for instance Blackarachnia and Depth Charge's profiles being the only BW:U fiction for ages. And there's also the question of where the members-only profiles should go - they're not Timelines, they're not from the Magazine. Personally I'd include them on the magazine page for the sake of simplicity, but that's not technically accurate.
4. Had a glance on your user page and saw you had the translated Cybertronix text there - personally I really think it'd be nice to have the earlier ones on a 'story source' page like the ones for those in the later stories. Perhaps one page with subsections for each story, with links to the existing pages for A Brush With Infamy et al?
I'm currently right in the middle of exams but will be done relatively soon and fully intend to help out with this sort of stuff more then. I'll probably make a bunch of sandboxes and mess around with the layout of the pages until I come up with something people like. - The Wadapan (talk) 17:49, 10 June 2017 (EDT)
2: Ah, okay. I have all the online ones, and the four Predacon ones. The Timelines I can get as well. And there were a few online ones, I'll find them.
3: Yeah, I'd say, if they have story information in them, they should be there somewhere.
4: Maybe that would work. I'd say for stuff like Broken Windshields or Trigger Warnings, it's not really enough to need a page. Escargon (talk) 18:01, 10 June 2017 (EDT)

Just popping my head in to say that I'm all up for helping out on the FunPub publications information whenever possible. I stumbled across an archive of the entire run of the TFCC on a Russian fansite and currently have that on my hard drive, along with the comics published during BotCon. While I may not be overly familiar with the contents, I can always do a dive into the archive and pull out what's needed.--NewtypeS3 (talk) 17:20, 1 November 2017 (EDT)

Hi, I have access to that stuff so don't worry. Of course if you feel like helping out with edits themselves and stuff, that'd be awesome - I made it about halfway through updating the TFCC pages into a more complete and consistent format, but I'm at uni now so finding the time to comb the issues is tricky for me. Was looking to do some next week. Glad for any help! The Wadapan (talk) 19:08, 1 November 2017 (EDT)

TFNation

Nice to meet you at the con. --Jimsorenson (talk) 04:42, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Thanks! Talking to you and David was the highlight of the con for me. This was my first con and I don't usually like talking to strangers, but I really felt welcome and it was really interesting hearing you all talk about BW:U. I got around to reading ReAnimated the night before last and think the whole team really did an excellent job. You nail the characters' voices and it certainly feels like you've given another universe a satisfying conclusion. I wish I'd gotten the chance to read it before the panel, but the spoilers were worth it as that panel was really interesting. I managed to grab a Sentinel Prime in the last five minutes before I left and was glad I did, because he's great in the comic.
Any chance we should be covering the comic on this wiki? I haven't heard any mention of it in this context, but surely it falls under a similar banner to Alignment. I know you didn't work on the show, but you worked on the Almanac... That's how I feel, anyway. But I won't be the one to make the page. The Wadapan (talk) 06:22, 15 August 2017 (EDT)
Feel free to hit me up on Facebook if you want to chat. This is not really the right venue for that. But no, the comic should not be on the wiki even as apocrypha. It's completely unofficial. --Jimsorenson (talk) 08:26, 15 August 2017 (EDT)
Noted, thanks. The Wadapan (talk) 08:34, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Tribute to Victory

This was probably a reference to the ultimately unreleased Victory Saber and Dessaras Robot Heroes 2 pack. --Khajidha (talk) 16:11, 30 January 2018 (EST)

Excellent, I'll add that to the relevant page. The Wadapan (talk) 16:44, 30 January 2018 (EST)

Classics

SOME of that could go in a note at the bottom, explaining how the fan reaction led to later releases. But it doesn't belong in the list of what was released.--Khajidha (talk) 19:31, 30 October 2018 (EDT)

Wheelie

In doing my erratic check-in of various hobbies/interests I went to check the Wheelie page and it's put an absolute smile on my face to see the article still up as it is. (And it's nice to see my intended message did end up being taken in good faith by someone, after thinking I'd made an absolute moron of myself and taken away from the point I wanted to make.) Thanks so much for your effort. I read it and enjoyed it greatly, and I hope it gets to stay. --NOISEMAZE (talk) 18:12, 12 July 2022 (EDT)

Thanks for the kind words—I've still got a ways to go before I'm happy with it, but I'm chipping away at it when I can! —The Wadapan (talk) 20:10, 12 July 2022 (EDT)

Citation Thanks

Hey Wadapan thanks for helping out with the citations both ones that we had added and ones previously on IDW1 Arcee's Conceptual Origins page section. We only learned citesocial editing stuff today so we're glad you helped out. We didn't have more spoons at the time today to archive more quotes so it is much appreciated. <3 Causeway (talk) 20:39, 20 November 2022 (EST)

Repurposings

I think you should pump the brakes on that. It's only been a couple days, nobody responding after so short a time is at best a call to re-ping for discussion and wait a bit. And at a first glance... I can't say I like the results. Override's addition looks like a lot of not-useful clutter that also just kinda looks bad. This might be something better served with a singular template/box pointing people to a different page at that point rather than adding a bunch of nigh-info-less subheaders. --M Sipher (talk) 17:51, 16 February 2024 (EST)

To be totally honest, I only made these changes to the Override page to draw some attention to the proposal; I'd already solicited feedback a couple of times in the Discord and on the sandbox itself, but got next to no response one way or the other. I personally disagree that having these kinds of navigation aids are "not-useful"; off-site, I see people get confused when there's no mention of a given story on the character page they expect to find it, and that's what I wanted to address. I do agree that the exact implementation could do with some finessing though! Template:OtherVersions was intended to mitigate this problem, but I just don't think it's effective, because it still doesn't put the information where readers expect to find it—directly in the fiction section. Very much open to ideas. —The Wadapan (talk) 18:31, 16 February 2024 (EST)
When I say "not useful", I mean the content of each subsection, being reduced to one sentence... which in Override's case, just repeat "leads Velocitron", which has kinda already been well-established. The "main article" link is easily lost in all that, and the end result just looks amateurish and unfinished. Perhaps an adaptation of the "OtherVersions" template meant to go into the Fiction sections that's more customizable would serve the function better, much more readily drawing the eye, immediately telling you "there's way more info elsewhere" at first glance. Give it variable text like "A nigh-identical iteration of Cybertron Override appears in [[IDW's 2005 G1 comic series]]". A bunch of nigh-empty subheaders just comes across as clutter and spaces to be filled. --M Sipher (talk) 19:31, 16 February 2024 (EST)
