Transformers: Generations (トランスフォーマー ジェネレーションズ Toransufōmā Jenerēshonzu) is a TakaraTomy toyline that was sold from 2012 to 2014. Unlike its Hasbro counterpart, which it shares visual elements with, it only sold product from the Fall of Cybertron and Thrilling 30 range of toys, being preceded by Transformers United (which sold product from the first phase of Hasbro Generations).
Similarly to United, Japanese Generations figures were given "premium" paint jobs, being coated in shiny paint and featuring numerous additional paint details. Unlike United, which characterized all of its toys as versions of the traditional Generation 1 characters, the Fall of Cybertron characters were given profiles that more closely matched their "Aligned" characterization, although whether TakaraTomy considered Fall of Cybertron a thing wholly separate from Generation 1 isn't clear.
Japanese Generations was succeeded by Legends (which sold versions of Hasbro's Generations product from halfway of Thrilling 30 to Titans Return) and Unite Warriors (which included counterparts of combining toys from Combiner Wars).
Fiction
Generations received some fiction to support its product, mostly for the big-ticket Metroplex and exclusives sold through the Generations book series.

Generations' primary fiction came in the form of the first six entries of the series of short comics in the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity informally known as the "Wars" series, written and drawn by infamous Kiss Players scribe Yuki Ohshima, thankfully here on his best behavior. Picking up on the plot threads left by the prior United EX toyline, Metrowars and its sequel Train Wars relate the fallout of the events of Zone and the ensuing struggles of the citybots and Trainbots respectively. "Wars" would prove to outlive Generations, pivoting to the Masterpiece franchise with "Rodimus Wars" in 2015.
This story by Guido Guidi follows Starscream on a brief misadventure as he harasses his fellow Decepticons with newfound cloaking technology. The comic is notably for taking place in a unique micro-continuity unrelated to the original cartoon, unlike TakaraTomy's usual Generation 1 fare.
- "Badlands"
This e-HOBBY story by returning United EX story team Andrew Hall and Hidetsugu Yoshioka chronicles the adventures of new characters Magnificus and Ga'mede in the wild west town from Victory's first episode. It is notable for containing a rare on-panel appearance by the Decepticon High Regent Scrash, the mysterious antagonist of Operation Combination.

Notes
- Generations began sporting TakaraTomy's version of the branding for the Transformers franchise's 30th anniversary beginning with Wave 6.
- Perhaps not unrelatedly, a hefty chunk of the toyline subsequently saw cross-promotion in the fiction of TakaraTomy's devoted 30th anniversary franchise, Transformers Cloud.
