Sunstreaker (ROTF)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Sunstreaker" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Sunstreaker (disambiguation). |
- Sunstreaker is an Autobot from the Revenge of the Fallen portion of the live-action film continuity family.
Sunstreaker is Sideswipe's relative. They're "quite the pair" Ironhide says. They always drive other 'bots crazy with their swagger and arrogance. If they weren't quite so effective on the battlefield he'd have told Optimus to show them the door.

Toys
Studio Series
- Concept Art Sunstreaker (Deluxe Class, 2024)
- Movie: Bumblebee
- Hasbro ID number: 111
- TakaraTomy ID number: SS-131
- Accessories: 2 Blasters, "Cybertron Falls" backdrop (4th version)
- Known designers: Evan Brooks (Hasbro)[1], Takashi Kunihiro (TakaraTomy)[2]
- Released in the second wave of Deluxe Class Studio Series figures for 2024, Sunstreaker is part of the "Concept Art" subset– based on existing concept art and CAD files for characters that were once planned to appear in a movie. This figure transforms into a Cybertronian sports car and comes with two double-barreled blasters that can combine. They can store on his robot back and the back of his car mode, resembling the original Sunstreaker’s engine block, or plug in separately on each side of the car. There are also unused slots on his shoulder pads that fit the tabs on the guns for even more display options. He comes with a new version of the "Cybertron Falls" backdrop.
- His massive shoulder pads tend to collide with his head and chestplate, limiting outward shoulder movements. This can be somewhat alleviated by hinging his shoulder pads out of the way, though this results in them engulfing his head instead. Tight clearances can cause paint chipping on his thighs during transformation. Sunstreaker also suffers from a misassembly error: the hood pieces in his legs are on backwards, resulting in unsightly gaps in car mode and preventing the windshield from sitting flush. This can be easily fixed by popping the hood parts off their friction hinges and flipping them around.
- Interestingly, this toy has significantly more slender proportions than the concept art he was based on (above), as well as a completely different pelvis design, among other differences in sculpted details. Like most other Studio Series Bumblebee Cybertronian figures, his alternate mode was created for this toy.[2]
- Sunstreaker was first spotted at US retail without any prior announcement from Hasbro, who would officially reveal him a month later at WonderCon on March 30, 2024. The figure was immediately available to ship from Amazon and went up for preorder at other outlets on April 4. He was intentionally packed alongside Gamer Edition Sideswipe, a Cybertronian version of his brother from a different universe.[1]
Notes
- The Concept Art figure was likely developed separately from the character Ironhide mentions, but we're grouping them together as they’re both movie characters seemingly based on Generation 1 Sunstreaker.
- The original height chart for Bumblebee Sunstreaker had him be "gigantic". The Studio Series designers opted to make him Deluxe-scaled to fit in with the rest of the cast.[2]
- The Studio Series figure's alternate mode resembles Sideswipe's Corvette Stingray Concept mode, possibly a nod to the two being brothers. Sunstreaker also wields double-barreled pistols like he does!
