Shortround (Cybertron)
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the Cybertron Decepticon. For the Beast Wars: Uprising Decepticon, see Shortround (BWU). |
- Shortround is a Decepticon from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
Shortround's fellow soldiers see him as a nuisance, especially fellow naval unit Thunderblast, the object of his fumbling affections. Nerdy and destructive, Shortround erupts into panic at the sight of Autobots which often results into chaotic displays of superheated plasma being fired everywhere which, ultimately, allow his companions to escape. Further marginalizing him from his comrades is his geeky obsession—toy collecting. Shortround spends an inordinate amount of time hunting down packaging samples of unreleased transforming robot action figures. Needless to say, neither this nor his annoying social drawbacks help endear him to Thunderblast, and most of his fellow Decepticons choose to stay the slag away so they don't get sucked into Nerdsville.
Still, his incredible speed over the water (up to 350 MPH) makes him well-suited as a supply runner and messenger, keeping him (generally) safe among the Decepticon ranks.
Toys
Cybertron
- Shortround (Scout-class, 2006)
- Accessories: Blaster, Earth Cyber Key
- Cyber Key Code: s639
- Known designers: Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy)
- Part of the seventh wave of Cybertron Scout-class toys, Shortround transforms into a troop-carrying military hovercraft. Inserting a Cyber Key into his key jack swings a pair of (non-firing) torpedo racks up into firing position from his rear turbines. This gimmick is available in both vehicle and robot modes. His extra blaster can plug into a squared peg-hole on the side of either lower clamp in robot mode, or into another hole atop his hovercraft mode.
- His stock photography is mistransformed: the blue parts of his lower forearms are supposed to slide back, giving him clamps evocative of a lobster's claws.
- This mold was one of several Cybertron Scout-class molds to not be released in Takara's Galaxy Force version of the line. Didn't even get a "USA Edition" import-release.
- This toy doubles as the Beast Wars: Uprising character Shortround. This mold was redecoed to make live-action movie Storm Surge (which was later repurposed as Shattered Glass Seaspray and re-released as Universe Storm Surge), and the unreleased 2010 Transformers line's Undertow. This mold also served as the basis of the non-toy "Theft of the Golden Disk" version of Beast Wars Scorponok.
