The Keepers are a race of leviathan-sized technorganic creatures.

Dreamwave Generation One continuity

On Earth, Darren Norbert formed a deal with the Keepers, allowing them to snatch Transformers.

After the disaster that occurred in California, the Autobots Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Bluestreak visited Tokyo to repair their relations with humanity, only to end up fighting Megatron. The four Transformers and 200 humans suddenly disappeared, transported across the universe by the Keepers, who wished to study them. The four Cybertronians fought in gladiatorial combat, with the Keepers threatening human lives if the Transformers refused. At one point, Megatron believed he entered an alliance with the Keepers, only to realize they had no intention of honoring any agreements. Megatron and the Autobots eventually join forces against the Kepers, who are revealed not to be merely bodiless voices, but technorganic beings. The Keepers fight the Transformers, but before Optimus Prime can unleash the power of the Creation Matrix, the Transformers and Keepers return to Earth, including a Keeper possessing Bluestreak's corpse. Hardwired

The Keepers were seen by the citizens of Las Vegas, amidst a battle between Autobots and Decepticons. The Keepers possessed more humanoid and semi-humanoid host bodies and were confronted by Optimus Prime. A representative of the Keepers, known as the Voice, informed Prime of their race's desire to conquer Earth within three days. Optimus physically assaulted the Voice, prompting the Keepers to unleash a wave of nullifying darkness to cover Los Angeles, destroying everything in the city's boundaries. Later, Starscream encountered the Keeper controlling Bluestreak's body, who overloaded the Seeker's circuitry, leading to Starscream being possessed by a Keeper. Other Keepers trap the remaining nearby Decepticons in an energy barrier, holding them prisoner.

Continuing their campaign of cruelty, the Keepers grotesquely mutilate and transform Melony Harcourt into a new Keeper as a form of "shock and awe". The united Autobots and Decepticons, along with a wave of U.S. military forces, begin battling the Keepers. Devastator and Omega Sentinel fight Keeper-Starscream and Keeper-Blustreak, who become damaged enough that they physically and mentally join forces as a gestalt being. Meanwhile, Melony Harcourt successfully retakes control of her physical body and attacks the Keepers, while Franklin Townsend, a special agent associated with Spike Witwicky, is revealed to have been working for the Keepers the entire time. Bumblebee saves Spike from being murdered by Franklin, but Franklin recovers the Gateway Key and brings it to his masters.

Unfortunately for Franklin and the Keepers, a nuclear missile (courtesy of the U.S. government), struck Las Vegas, and in the chaos, Optimus Prime unleashed a combination of Matrix energy and nuclear fire on the Keepers, blasting them to atoms, and removing them from the Solar System. Keeper-Starscream and Keeper-Bluestreak were destroyed by the combined mental force of Starscream and Bluestreak. Annihilation But this was not the end for the Keepers, as those who were blasted away by Optimus found themselves alive in a pocket dimension known as the Void. The Keepers sent Franklin back to Earth, with Franklin taking control of Bluestreak's body. Eventually, the gateway to the Void was opened, and Optimus Prime rushed into the portal to confront the Keepers. The Keepers' attempts to manipulate Prime failed, and Prime prepared for a suicidal ploy, unleashing the full power of the Matrix to destroy himself and the Keepers. Optimus would change tactics moments later, calling upon Omega Sentinel and Devastator, who entered the portal. Optimus, returning to the Earth side of the portal, threw the Gateway's crystal key into the Void. Omega Sentinel, fighting off the Keepers, destroyed the crystal key, finally killing the Keepers and ending their threat for good. Fusion

Notes

  • The Keepers are similar to the Quintessons, who forced certain Transformers to fight each other.
  • They are also similar to the Vok, who were known to kidnap certain Transformers from Earth.
