Charlotte Mearing
From Transformers Wiki
- Charlotte Mearing is a human from the movie continuity family.
Not everyone can be as pleasant of a bureaucrat as Theodore Galloway. But the United States's Director of National Intelligence Charlotte Mearing does her best to live up to his legacy. But where Galloway was spiteful and confrontational, Mearing is overbearing, controlling, and impatient. She demands that every last operation, decision, and piece of intelligence go through her before anyone else. She especially doesn't take kindly to people going over head, no matter how long their list of heroic deeds may be. Just calling her "ma'am" is enough to get on her bad side and earn yourself one of the most intense staredowns you'll ever experience. Mearing's no less demanding and exacting towards her hapless assistants who have to lug around dozens of high-priced handbags and accessories she'll demand at a moment's notice with little to no specification.
If Mearing has any redeeming qualities, it's that she at least sees the big picture. When confronted with a problem bigger than her, she loses her condescending and snippy attitude and tries to work with her colleagues. The Autobots are also able to remind her of her place if she ever tries squaring off with them. Mearing seems to understand the importance of NEST, but they better do things her way.
She also had one-time fling with Seymour Simmons, but she (understandably) doesn't like it brought up. But that doesn't stop him from trying to (unsuccessfully) rekindle old flames.

After several incidents involving the Autobots on foreign territory, Mearing paid a visit to NEST HQ in Washington, D.C. to talk to Colonel Lennox about it. Optimus Prime was even less forthcoming than the Colonel and had to be nudged just to transform. When he demanded answers on why Autobot technology had been found in human hands, Mearing introduced him to Buzz Aldrin and two of NASA's founding directors. She and the others explained that decades ago an alien ship had crashed on the moon, triggering a space race to investigate it.
When Optimus and Ratchet returned from the moon with Sentinel Prime and five Pillars, Mearing had the latter safely locked up. She was unimpressed when Sam Witwicky and his girlfriend Carly Spencer were let into the base, though Lennox attempted to vouch for them, and threatened to have Sam charged with treason. She and Lennox watched as Optimus revived Sentinel with the Matrix of Leadership. She was unimpressed when the Pillars turned out to be a technology to transport things across time and space and insisted on keeping them locked up. Mearing opened the "Total Nightmare file" and had a more peaceful discussion with Sam and Carly, though when Brains got on her desk, she got a gun out.
Mearing tried to confront Sentinel as he rampaged through NEST HQ, and had to be restrained by Lennox. She subsequently blamed Optimus for Sentinel's betrayal. She also apologized to Sam for underestimating him. They headed for Florida, where the Autobots were preparing to launch in the Xantium, and Mearing encountered Simmons who immediately began rubbing her the wrong way. After the destruction of the Xantium and Decepticon invasion of Chicago, Mearing and Simmons worked with Morshower to try to get more information on the situation. It wasn't until Epps and Sam got into Chicago and used a down military drone to report back that Mearing could find anything out. They got more information when Dutch hacked into the traffic cameras and Mearing congratulated him when he managed to lower a bridge so Lennox and his men could cross.
Following the defeat of the Decepticons, Simmons gave her a huge kiss, and she ordered him arrested. Dark of the Moon
