Breakaway (Movie)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Breakaway" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Breakaway (disambiguation). |
- Breakaway is an Autobot from the Transformers portion of the movie continuity family.
No prison can hold the Autobot escape-artist extraordinaire Breakaway, and any lucky or skilled Decepticon who does will not be able to gloat about it for long. He has been imprisoned countless times, most of which occurred on purpose during decoy missions. But even as Decepticons continually try to make a cell that can hold Breakaway indefinitely, they have never succeeded because he has escaped every instance. More than happy to maintain his interstellar reputation, he will surely take the next chance to embarrass his enemies as he slips out of their grasp.[1]
Every inch of Breakaway's body contains secret compartments filled with the right tools to escape from any cell. Slippery as a Neutronian grease eel and clever as a turbofox, his skills seem almost supernatural to Decepticon bounty hunters across the galaxy.[2]

Notes
- Breakaway was originally designed for the 2008 Universe toyline as a new version of Generation 1 Getaway.[4] The toy was renamed "Breakaway" because the original name did not clear trademark.
- Breakaway's off-panel demise in Tales of the Fallen #6 seems rather handy because it prevents readers from confusing this Breakaway with another movieverse character of the same name.
