Research project: Perceptions of freedom of speech, privacy, and trust in government among librarians and library users.

Previously policy and advocacy assistant at International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (which is why I've uploaded so many How To Spot Fake News posters to Wikimedia Commons).

Read my blog about WikiLibCon 2022 in Maynooth, Ireland!

A short note on library involvement with Wikipedia on 22 October 2024

While I have long advocated for library involvement with Wikipedia I am as of October 2024 not entirely convinced libraries should organise Wikipedia activities for their users to contribute to Wikipedia. My own experience with administrators on Swedish language Wikipedia, and others telling me about negative experiences with admins on the English and French language Wikipedias, makes me believe we shouldn't subject our users to the hostile information environment that exists. It's a bad look for libraries if we organise events that creates disheartened and sad new users (who probably instantly become un-users) since we want to make (creation, evaluation, and dissemination of) information easy and accessible to all people.

I am very much open to talking about this and would love to hear your thoughts! \o/
