Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a Mitchell man Tuesday following a fatal crash in Morrill County.
The Nebraska State Patrol released that Daniel Flores, 21, of Mitchell, was arrested on charges of motor vehicle homicide and careless driving in a crash that killed 65-year-old Kim Wills of Alliance.
According to information released from the patrol, at about 2:26 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol received a report of a crash on Highway 385 near mile marker 93. A preliminary investigation shows that Flores, driving a 2020 Chevrolet Express delivery van, was traveling southbound on Highway 385 when he failed to slow down for a stopped southbound Ford F-150 that was waiting for cattle to cross the road. Flores attempted to switch lanes to avoid the vehicle, however the driver struck the stopped vehicle.
The Ford F-150 was occupied by Wills, who was administered CPR and transported to Morrill County Community Hospital, where she was declared deceased.
