Window Maker Live is an installable Linux Live ISO based on the current Bookworm branch of Debian. The system uses the Window Maker window manager as the default graphical user interface. Window Maker Live's components have been carefully preconfigured and the desktop environment has a consistent visual appearance. Window Maker Live integrates selected components from other desktop environments such as XFCE4, MATE, LXQT, with a particular focus on GNUstep. The main idea behind this project is to integrate the Window Maker window manager as default user interface on top of a standard Debian/Bookworm base system. It also serves as an alternate installation medium for Debian/Bookworm. The second main idea not directly visible on the surface level is the inclusion of many useful command line utilities and tools for system administration. This effectively turns wmlive into a UNIX administrator's workbench for rescue and repair operations.

Syllable Desktop is a complete operating system that is easy to use, powerful, lightweight and extraordinarily fast and responsive. It has its own kernel, filesystem, GUI and applications. Syllable Server is a matching small and efficient Linux server.

LXP is a desktop enviroment identical to Windows XP. LXP is a collection of different pieces of GNU software (icewm, xfe, idesk, etc) modified in order to look and feel identical to Windows XP. LXP has its own icewm themes and utility pack.

Morphix is a modulair distribution, with live-cd support and without any configuration (you burn the CD, you put it in your CD-Rom drive, you boot and it works... out of the box) see www.morphix.org

The project evolved into dirreset (https://sourceforge.net/projects/dirreset/) This script may be useful in computer classes to free teacher or system administrators from user settings restoration after student made changes. The main idea is to prepare an archive with reference copy of settings and to use this script for replacing changes settings with archived. Clearing DE cache also provided. Script was tested a couple years ago on XFCE and works every day last 5 years on KDE (Plasma), including in recently released Debian 10.

The core_fonts package contains Microsoft's "Core Fonts for the Web" as well as a script to extract and install the fonts, making them available to the X font server. Once the script has been run, the fonts should be available for use.
