Please help me understand

[change source]

Macdonald-ross, "It is always good to write something in this box. This lets people know what you have changed. You can also say why you changed something." is what Wikipedia:Change summary states. It seems rude to not state why you revert without a reason given. Please, help me understand. Stewi101015 (talk) 01:26, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think this question should be on a different talk page. But, it is wise to write something in the edit summary box so that people know before hand what you are changing on the page. //nepaxt 01:44, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Stewi, this should have been either on Mac's talk page, or underneath the talk page conversation that made you have the question. Your talk page is not for contacting other users, even if you ping them. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:52, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: It was ... but @Nepaxt: moved it here. What is going on? Stewi101015 (talk) 01:54, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the discussion to your talk page, because it is not on the subject of Talk:Earth science. //nepaxt 01:56, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Per this it is regarding an attempt at a link for Academic Press ... It is about the page. Why am I talking with you? It is a question as to why it was reverted without a change summary. You can not definitively answer that question. Stewi101015 (talk) 01:59, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If I am to learn how to properly edit on SEWikipedia, I'll need answers in context, i.e. on Talk:Earth science. Moving it here is just confusing. Stewi101015 (talk) 02:03, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If I am doing something wrong, you must specifically communicate what that is. It appears (from what I have read so far) I am following the "rules" ... Stewi101015 (talk) 02:05, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1.) I noticed that you put the wrong topic on the wrong talk page. So, I put it on your talk page. Per talk page guidelines, it is inappropriate to use article talk pages as chat pages. 2.) I noticed your mistake on the recent changes log, so I moved it. 3.) If you want to better know how to edit Wikipedia, read the links in the Welcome Message more closely. Thank you. //nepaxt 02:10, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Is this better? Stewi101015 (talk) 02:15, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think putting it on Macdonald-ross's talk page would be best. //nepaxt 02:29, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nepaxt, maybe next time you could ask the person to move their own conversation. Besides, it's not that uncommon for unrelated conversations to happen on article talk pages. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:37, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Aunt6. I didn't know. I was basing moving talk comments on en.wiki rules. //nepaxt 02:50, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Nepaxt: I am confused. You started Simple English Wikipedia 17:57, 9 September 2015, a month before me? Am I missing something?
And on English Wikipedia, from which you attempt to cite, you started 02:03, 24 August 2015? Stewi101015 (talk) 00:22, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So what is the problem here? How is the date he started editing Wikipedia relevant to this? Chenzw  Talk  00:28, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Chenzw. My guess is Wikipedia:Assume good faith is at issue. But since I am so new, your guess is likely better than mine. I might have said Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers is, but since Nepaxt is a newcomer too, that could not apply. Stewi101015 (talk) 00:36, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Are you accusing Nepaxt of not assuming good faith? From what you are saying, it seems to be what you are trying to do. Chenzw  Talk  00:43, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
@Chenzw: ¨Accuse¨ is such a strong word. I want civility. Nepaxt´s actions appear arrogant. He shockingly (to me) moved something (my seeking understanding discussion) he showed he did not fully understand. This does not appear to be the humility required of a newbie. Stewi101015 (talk) 04:50, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Behavioural policies like Be kind and Assume good faith are intended to be applied to ourselves, not to other Wikipedians. There is no seniority here. Editors are editors. That includes administrators, bureaucrats, stewards… everyone. We're all her to build an encyclopedia. Now, editors have different levels of experience and often in different areas. All that means is that if an editor can help a less experienced editor, they should. And we do not bite the newcomers. That applies if you've been here six years, six months or six days. You should also know that any bad comment about another editor can be considered a personal attack. I'm not saying it is in this case, just that it could be taken as such. OK, what to do? First, I'd suggest an apology to Nepaxt. Just think about it. When things are in writing and you can't see the person's expressions it's easy to get the wrong impression. Secondly, since you have been doing copy editing (fixing links, spelling, etc.) you should know he seems to be pretty good at it. He could be a good editor to know. All of us bring something to the table and there aren't enough of us that we can afford to be squabbling among ourselves. Thing is, we all work together and we respect each other. Have a beer, relax, its all good
@Rus793: Thank you for the beer image.
Thank you for your concern.
Forgive me for not being particularly focused on this thread, as I have not even thought about it in awhile. No malice here. I stated I want to Be Kind (see above). And I am AGF, as it just seemed like a misunderstanding to me.
What kind of "apology" are you suggesting; for someone with I had never before had an interaction? Just some kind of "no hard feelings"?
Harmonious cooperation to further develop Wikiland is my goal.
Or can we just be done with this? Simple English Wikipedia seems to needs a variety of corrections. Stewi101015 (talk) 04:54, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, maybe just one more ...
Or, why not two more ...
Oh, I remember why not ...
Really?
