The Farthest Shore is the third in a series of books that are written by Ursula K. Le Guin. The book was first published in 1972, and follows on from The Tombs of Atuan. It inspired the Studio Ghibli animated movie Tales from Earthsea. It won the 1973 National Book Award for Children's Books.
