Burr Oak is a city in Jewell County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 140 people lived there.[3]

Burr Oak was planned out in 1871. It was incorporated as a city in 1880.[4] It was named after the Burr Oak Creek.[5]

The first post office in Burr Oak was created in June 1871.[6]

Burr Oak is at 39°52′7″N 98°18′15″W / 39.86861°N 98.30417°W / 39.86861; -98.30417 (39.868516, -98.304297).[7] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.83 square miles (2.15 km2). All of it is land.[2]

The 2020 census says that there were 140 people, 69 households, and 35 families living in Burr Oak. Of the households, 97.1% owned their home and 2.9% rented their home.

The median age was 54.5 years. Of the people, 95.0% were White and 5.0% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.9% of the people.[3][8]

The 2010 census says that there were 174 people, 93 households, and 50 families living in Burr Oak.[9]

Burr Oak is part of USD 107 Rock Hills. Burr Oak became a part of Rock Hills USD 107 in Mankato in 2006. The Rock Hills High School mascot is Grizzlies.[10]
