Blue Mound is a city in Linn County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 219 people lived there.[3] It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.[4]

Blue Mound was planned out in 1882. It was named Blue Mound because from far away, its elevation is said to look blue.[5]

Blue Mound is at 38°5′22″N 95°0′36″W / 38.08944°N 95.01000°W / 38.08944; -95.01000 (38.089357, -95.009926). The United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.64 square miles (1.66 km2). Almost all of it is land.[2]

The 2020 census says that there were 219 people, 95 households, and 50 families living in Blue Mound. Of the households, 81.1% owned their home and 18.9% rented their home.

The median age was 43.9 years. Of the people, 90.4% were White, 0.9% were Black, 0.5% were from some other race, and 8.2% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.3% of the people.[3][6]

The 2010 census says that there were 275 people, 111 households, and 75 families living in Blue Mound.[7]
