Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser

Revision as of 03:06, 27 December 2024 by SpBot (talk | changes) (archive 1 section: 1 to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Archives/2024-12 (after section Channel_i_Music_Awards_accounts) - previous edit: Fr33kman, 2024-12-26 16:30)

CheckUser is the process of checking information about two or more users (including named users and IP addresses). Some administrators are able to check if two or more accounts have been used from the same computer. These users also see User agents. This can help them decide if two accounts are related in the way described above. It is also possible to see if a user is editing from an open proxy.

On this page, users can request some users or IPs to be checked. Good reasons should be given for why a checkuser is needed; you should provide links which show the questionable edits, etc. Questions should usually be created so that they can be answered by yes or no. Responses will be short in order to comply with Wikipedia privacy policy. Sensitive information (like the IP addresses used by an account) are usually not reported. The results are not always clear, and a decision should not be made only on the basis of checkuser results.

Use of the tool

This tool is to be used to fight vandalism, to check for sockpuppet abuse, and to limit disruption of the project. It must be used only to prevent damage to the project.

The tool should not be used for political control; to apply pressure on editors; or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to check a user. Note that alternative accounts are not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of the policies (for example, to vote more than once or to make it look like more people support an idea). Checkusers will refuse a request, if the reason for checking is not good enough to warrant the use of the tool.

Please see the CheckUser policy for all the rules related to CheckUser.

The list of users with CheckUser access can be seen at: Special:ListUsers/checkuser.

Current requests

Recent problematic cross-namespace pagemovers

I would like to note that several users are moving non-userpages to userspace with similar tone (complicated language that may not make sense) and vice versa. The 2nd user has WP:ONESTRIKE for this reason. In w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Krishan avatar, an editor pointed out similarities between the 1st and 3rd user (who is equal to the 4th-11th user, Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Archive22#Behgal_Jats_accounts, Special:Diff/9737930, w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Truthfindervert, Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Archive22#Truthfindervert/Khalsajudicary). Both the 1st and 3rd user has interests in similar South Asian history topics, and have a history of problematic page moves (examples are explained in Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Archive22#Behgal_Jats_accounts and Special:Diff/9737930). MathXplore (talk) 03:25, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please also note that the users like to move pages with semi-protection (especially the 1st and 2nd users). MathXplore (talk) 05:13, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will also add Repulsive hegemony card (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · SUL · CA · checkuser (log)) for doing similar page moves against semi-protected entries. MathXplore (talk) 00:20, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Administrator note: The user is locked. MathXplore (talk) 05:16, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Administrator note: 1st and 2nd user is locked, please see w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Balakashyap/Archive#27_August_2024. MathXplore (talk) 00:39, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Accounts around WikiAlpha and David Balondemu

I would like to report a possible successor of locked LTAs based on LWCU results (1st and 2nd user, both are locked by Yahya). The 1st user is the author of WikiAlpha (special:redirect/logid/2884364, listed up for Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/WikiAlpha), and the 3rd user removed RFD tag from the page (special:diff/9959053). The 1st and 2nd user has activity overlap at d:Q131412851 (Wikidata item for David Balondemu which is deleted by Eptalon). Making a possibly non-notable subject and removing RFD tag are issues, and doing these with several accounts is an incident that should be reviewed by our CUs. Also, any further movement by LTA followers should be seized. MathXplore (talk) 13:35, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Umar Jaum accounts

The 1st user is already blocked due to the abuse of logged out edits, etc, and they are the author of the article (special:redirect/logid/2889284). After the previous block, the 2nd user has started to continue their work (special:diff/9961903). Please also note that their activities also overlap at w:Dil Diyan Gallan (2019 film) (w:special:diff/1264042353, w:special:diff/1264502940), and the music of this movie is made by Umar Jaum. @Fr33kman: Please note that a new user Blirth (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · SUL · CA · checkuser (log)) has activity overlap at Akshay Kumar with the 2nd user (special:diff/9967974), recreated Parmish Verma which was made by the 2nd user, and now joined the RFD for Umar Jaum (Special:Diff/9970810). Daniel Larze accounts

Possible WP:EVASION around this article and the RFD (Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Daniel Larze). After the removal of the 1st user, the 2nd user has appeared for the RFD (Special:Diff/9960628) and the article (special:diff/9960649), and they have no other edits in this project. Aside from the similar names, both have vandalised the Dexter's Laboratory article by adding false information, and both have created false or somewhat false pages about musicians / music groups. Ravensfire (talk) 16:57, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Micah_Blehm accounts

I'm reporting possible WP:EVASION around this article which was deleted by Fr33kman. After the block of the 1st user, another user has came here for the recreation of the same BLP. MathXplore (talk) 22:40, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

JFO Star accounts

The first editor started JFO Star. Later, when the article was nominated for deletion, the other three users have only shown an intrest to the article, taking part of the RFDs and agreeing on one another. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 05:56, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
