Allen Garfield (born Allen Goorwitz; November 22, 1939 – April 7, 2020) was an American actor. He appeared in over 100 movies and television shows. His movie credits include The Conversation (1974), Nashville (1975), The Stunt Man (1980), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and The Ninth Gate (1999).

Garfield was born in Newark, New Jersey, to a Jewish family. He survived at least two strokes, in 1999 and again in 2004.

On April 7, 2020, during the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, Garfield died of COVID-19 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California. He was 80.[1]
