Another photo restoration/creation. I found a portrait of Gaspard-Félix Tournachon a.k.a Felix Nadar in an air balloon basket in the commons belonging to the Smithsonian Institution Gaspard-Félix Tournachon was a french photographer, balloonist and novelist. Apparently he was the first person to take aerial photographs and was also a pioneer in the use of artificial lighting for the purpose of photography. The second I saw this image it immediately reminded me of Jules Vernes and Georges Méliès. As it turns out Jules Vernes and Gaspard-Félix Tournachon knew each other and Gaspard-Félix Tournachon was the inspiration for some of Verne's work.
