I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. Does the installation wipe everything stored on the phone? I don’t mind installing apps individually, just wondering about files and photos. Also can I run Action Launcher on Graphene?

Minneapolis Public Schools has been offering a remote option since Jan. 9th, and nearby districts have done the same or are discussing it. It’s safer but presents the same issues as the pandemic, i.e. strain on teachers and requiring a parent to be home with the kids.

The other day I there was a request for rapid response by my work. When I got there, several school buses were idling in the street, with parents lined up to meet them, for like 25 minutes. School policy is that kids stay on the bus until ICE has left the area.
There was an SUV with 3 masked up agents just sitting there, heckling observers. They said, “If you guys would leave us alone, we could do our job.” I said, “Oh yeah? What’s your job?” and they said, “Catching the criminal illegal aliens and pedophile predators. Don’t you want us to protect the kids?” These smug fucks spend their weekday afternoons looming around bus stops, and if they miss a chance to snatch someone, they’ll settle for scaring little kids. The worst of the worst. There were about 50 parents, teachers and neighbors at the intersection by the time they gave up and left.
They’re not winning the war, but they’re laying siege against our time, money and mental bandwidth. It’s exhausting.

Aside from revenge against Walz… one theory is that we’re a functioning community that’s ethnically diverse, relatively progressive, union strong, and very friendly to queer folks. Fox News would have you believe that any one of those features creates a godless hellscape, but we’re doing pretty good. Minnesota grew a huge budget surplus under Walz, and then we invested it in schools and social programs. The Republican tradition is to destroy something (see: the federal government) and say, “See? Told you it was broken!”

What’s the story here exactly? That someone isn’t supposed to laugh while they’re grieving? How many days have to pass before they’re allowed to giggle? That’s not how grief works.
Haven’t we all, at some point, had to put on a face even when we feel like shit? I know these people are terrible, but it’s not because of this.

You couldn’t go 60 seconds in that crowd without someone asking, “Do you need any hand warmers? Are those gloves warm enough? I have an extra pair.” When we reached the Target Center there were half a dozen Somali neighbors handing out free, hot sambusas.
One interesting thing is that the route for the march made several turns, so it was hard to gauge the size of the crowd without one long, continuous view. I was about 150 people from the front, and it wasn’t until I watched a timelapse that I realized how fucking massive the march was.
Wherever you are, I hope you have a chance to march this Friday. Don’t wait to find out if there’s “a lot of people” before you decide. You’re not attending the march - you are the march. We’re going to make it through this.

The usual advice for non-white people is to carry a copy of your passport, and make are the original is somewhere safe. They might call it fake and kidnap you anyway, but sometimes they’ll look you up, see you’re a citizen, and leave you alone.

100%. I believe everyone here in Minneapolis understands that. I read comments (some are bots/trolls) saying the only way to stop this is to start shooting back, but we know deep down that 95% of the resulting casualties would be innocent bystanders. We’ve been able to mitigate harm to our most vulnerable neighbors by NOT escalating the violence.

ICE is at my door. Do you live in Minneapolis? I do, and I’m out every day, but not everyone is able to do that. People have kids, they have patients they have to see, they have disabilities. It’s bleak right now, and I promise you that even though these organized protests aren’t physically confronting ICE, they keep the community engaged and send a message that they’re not wearing us down. Even if you believe what you’re saying, it contributes nothing helpful to this movement.

Thank you buddy.

I shouldn’t bother responding to this energy-suck, but god damn I get so mad reading so many versions of the same defeatist comment. Why do you even take the time to write it?

Actually, based on how some Minneapolis detainees described the holding cells, I would believe $47/day.

Every second of coverage that Jacob Frey gets is a centrist distraction from a sincere conversation about what’s happening in Minneapolis. He is uninterested in doing anything that helps anyone vulnerable in this city. He bumbled his way through the uprising in 2020 (on the side of “restoring order”), he constantly had homeless communities bulldozed, and now again he’s distracting people with stern-sounding rhetoric while doing nothing to support the community.
The precinct map for the 2025 mayoral election (which Frey won) overlays neatly with the city map of ICE activity this month. That is, the parts of the city that supported Frey are being less affected by ICE raids and kidnappings. He doesn’t care about protecting immigrants and BIPOC community members because they’re not “his people.”

The more granular the analysis, the more I feel completely insane. I watched the video from 4 angles at regular speed and I saw nothing ambiguous. She turned to drive away and he shot her dead. There’s no other side of the story.

Thanks for investigating and sharing more info!

I hadn’t heard that they only collect the bonus after 5 years. Do you have a source?
It’s an AI video. Sorry everyone.
EDIT: To clarify, I’m talking about the clip of the two agents falling together. Look at the space in the background that seems to be across the street. It doesn’t make any sense. There’s some Picasso concrete work with a seam that extends into the snowbank on the right? It’s AI.

You go ahead and do that, but make sure there are no innocent people nearby when you do. They haven’t been trained on the rules of engagement, nor do they care about them. When they’re fired upon, they won’t just fire back at the individuals who shot them. They’ll consider everyone a threat and start spraying the crowd. If you shoot one of them, you’re creating exponentially more danger for everyone around you.
Look at the videos from their attack on Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. A kid threw snow at one of the agents - not even a snowball, just a handful of snow - and the agent turned around and bear maced everyone he could see.
If you’re into movies at all, Team Deakins is a casual conversation between GOAT cinematographer Roger Deakins, his wife/creative partner, and an actor or crew member. It’s very pleasant. There’s no agenda, so they just chat about life and the film industry. Sometimes it’s incredibly technical, and other times it’s funny or philosophical. For technical, the Matthew Libatique episode. For philosophical, Frances McDormand or David Dastmalchian.
