2 days agoWhy would anyone use this non FOSS vibe coded thing instead of PeerTube? Copying YouTube’s UX is not a good enough reason when better FOSS alternatives already exist.

15·22 days agoYeah adding these two restrictions to any open source licence means that it’s not actually open source. They should brush up on the open source definition. It sounds like it will effectively be “source available”, which is not the same thing.

1·1 month agoI’ve not replaced the battery. It lasts about 16 hours with my usage. I’m running a custom rom that does not include google play services, so that probably helps a lot with performance and battery.
I replace my phone when my current one stops working. Went from a Galaxy S2 to a Nexus 5X to a OnePlus 5T. The 5T is starting to exhibit the occasional lag, and the battery life isn’t too good any more, but it is good enough. Hopefully get another year out of it. And it has a headphone jack!!!
Personally I don’t like Plex because it is not FOSS. Additionally, I read recently that they have added a requirements to use their service even if you are self hosting everything.
Jellyfin is such a wonderful gift. I’m so glad there is such a good alternative to plex
Ugh yes “competitive” is so annoying. In other words “we’ll pay you the minimum we can get away with”
If the salary is not in the job ad, then I don’t apply. It is a very obvious red flag that the company is not going to treat you well.
2·1 month agoI found computer chronicles on YouTube maybe 8 years ago and binged most of it. Great show. Wonderful snapshot of computer history.

True! It is frustrating. I fear the days of custom PC builds are coming to an end.
Even before this recent price hike it was a lot more expensive than it used to be.
They changed the licence to MIT after my post. So good on them. The original licence was non FOSS. You can see it in the git history if you’re interested.
