  • So the only arguments against the ban come down to how to perform the age verification and not issues with the ban itself. That makes sense. Maybe we could institute some kind of one time passcode where it’s like an MFA for age. Like picture your passport can generate a hash (unidirectional) that just contains like month and year of birth and is verified via PGP with the passport issuing body as the cert authority. So the only actual information you are sending is a hashed and cryptographically verified month and year of birth. That should probably make everyone happy.

  • The issue for me is that, let’s say that one day a magical device does allow time travel, it would also have to do teleportation relative to some point since everything is in motion. What would all of time and space use for a relative location? Can’t be the earth or sun since those are moving. Even our galactic cluster is moving. So if you went back in time a year, the earth wouldn’t be at the same point in space even though it’s done a full revolution. I’m no space scientist but I don’t imagine we have a solution.

I don’t follow VR closely so I am curious as to what exactly Meta did accomplish. You seem to have some awareness of this space. They spent an insane amount of money building shit, they must have made something remarkable even if no one cared. Could they really have built only a second rate VR Chat alternative? I mean with that amount of money, he could have built a replacement for credit card processors.
