I have no hole into which you can pigeon me. I’m unique. Just like everyone else.
I’m equal parts seven, seventeen, and seventy, and have been since elementary school. I’ve got the open ended curiosity of a seven year old, the suicidal bravery of a seventeen year old, and the wisdom of an old man.
I am equal parts George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, Hunter Thompson, and Charles Bukowski.

6·1 month ago" And if we all die in nuclear fallout caused to protect chatbot profits I will be so over this whole thing"
That’s a great line.
And they don’t even turn a profit.
Yes, extra firm. I can’t believe I didn’t see that last time.
It feels pretty firm through the packaging. It says, “I am great for baking and pan frying.”
Thank you.
Funny. Just yesterday I was pondering the eternal question–which Discworld character best represents me? I decided, despite coming from the middle class, it’s probably William deWorde.
I’m pretty irrelevant, too. :)

Fairphone@lemmy.ml•Love 's idea to have the "regular phone" and the "minimalist phone" in one device, with a physical switch to go back and forth <3
02·8 months agoIn Estonia, you can still get an old fashioned Motorola stick phone without a camera or GPS. They remember the Soviets over there.
I think the trend away from carrying a tracking device will only fade after we’ve deposed and imprisoned trump, eliminated the republican party, and put all the MAGA assholes in prison or a grave. Millions of them.
I certainly hope the trend of making it harder for the authorities to know everything about you continues.

2·10 months agoReminds me of LORAN.
My pops worked on the LORAN station on Attu island in the Aleutian chain for a year. He was coast guard. They honestly promised him a woman behind every tree. (There were no trees).
He did get really good at beating the comedian Gallagher at ping pong.

2·10 months agoI’m a huge fan of King’s early stuff and had read the 800p “The Stand” half a dozen times before the 1200p version was released. I didn’t notice anything in the long form that added to the story. I say his editors were right to cut it the first time.
This is an unpopular opinion, but I really think you can skip 400 pages without losing anything.

1·10 months agoAs far as pandemic themed books, “The Stand” by Stephen King wears the crown.
“The Andromeda Strain” by Michael Crichton isn’t bad, either.

He was an authoritarian.
Today, he’d be a fascist.
