1·2 days agoI’m not really against AI (specifically text-based GenAI), but AI does change the reality of using the internet. I need to be able to promote trustworthy domains in my search results and accumulate such a list over years.
Brave search technically has such a feature, but firstly the owner is a homophobe, and secondly the feature isn’t really as power-user oriented as I’d like.

110·2 days agoTrump is an exception to the Republican rule, not for his incompetence but for his unpredictability.
And the domestic policy of the Republicans effects the rest of the world too. Climate change is a big one, Trump would never pass the “inflation reduction act” and as much as that bill had flaws it did contribute to renewable energy in the United States. Trump also cut USAID and while that funding probably wouldn’t come back under the Democrats, it is yet another example of how non-Americans were hurt by his actions.

111·2 days agoI’d say Trump isn’t much better, but the Gaza Peace Plan is an improvement over the status quo from before. But the parallels between Trump and Hitler are far stronger than between Biden and Hitler, especially on domestic policy.
I’m not faulting people for not voting in 2024, Trump was more of a wildcard than Biden. Voting Biden in guaranteed a continued genocide but nobody knew what Trump would do.
Trump is an exception to the Republican rule, his foreign policy is very idiosyncratic and his domestic policy is more mask-off (metaphorically, not literally). The Republican party behind him is more uniform in their unconditional support for Israel. The Democrat party is fractured on that front and broadly (though not unanimously) united against the most murderous of Trump’s domestic policies.
Maybe abstaining or voting third-party will incite a communist revolution, I don’t know, but right now more people are dying than would under a Democrat senate majority and I don’t see them being able to make things worse in Gaza (and they’re not really ideologically pro-genocide, they just don’t care as long as they have access to Israeli military bases).
It’s possible they would. Maybe they’d want to make sure the government wants them to stay operating at any cost, because if the government fails to do so they’ll have 120,000 unemployed engineers.

312·2 days agoI’m not saying that there is no US propaganda against North Korea and other communist countries. Just that when you are able to dismiss everything as US propaganda you end up as far from the truth as when you blindly accept all US propaganda as true.
The reason I changed my pro-Ukraine stance was not because I debated with pro-Russia zealots on Lemmy. It was because I heard from someone who recognizes that Russia is imperfect and the war unjustified, but that Russia’s concerns were legitimate and that America clearly had a hand in causing it. I still support Ukraine’s territorial integrity BTW, just not anything like the total collapse of the Russian state.
Anyway, an acknowledgement that the North Korean state has real issues of their own making would disprove this. That information is so restricted is evidence of that.
Is more engineers necessary better? Especially when it gets to 120,000.

Not happening.
Games would become Epic exclusive before they give up their KLAC, and that would hurt Steam far more than it would hurt Denuvo. Steam would not make such a poor business decision.
If I were Steam, I’d insert barriers to purchases a Denuvo game. No promotion on the Steam storefront, a warning before purchase, etc.
EDIT: I thought Denuvo was KLAC for a second. Please disregard this entire reply.
