I have to translate descriptions like “Thingy”, “Whatchamacallit” and “Doo-dad” into useful descriptions through dialogue with the customer.
It is amazing how often the customer doesn’t want to work with you in a dialogue and doesn’t answer any questions or respond to clarifications.

It appears that since Win10 is no longer being supported my Microsoft, it is now more secure than Win11.
(yes I know that there will be huge security holes in Win10 that will never be patched, but right now!? It appears to be the better option)
I may have to give up on Debian with Linux-Surface on my old Pro4 and revert back to Win10.
I will keep Debian+Steam on my gaming machine though…

Don’t get me wrong, I do like the promise of USB-C. I have retrofitted USB-C sockets on a few of my legacy devices already, but we are heading back to a time of wondering if something would work and then having no idea why it won’t.
Most of it comes from manufacturers being cheap. A 5W USB wall wart costs less to manufacture than a 30W wall wart, which costs less than a 100W wall wart, but the difference in price is negligible compared to the difference in user experience.
Same with cables. Thunderbolt 3 cables are much higher quality than basic USB-C cables, but much more expensive due to economies of scale.
I only buy quality USB-C cables, (often as gifts for family members and friends who don’t know why their device isn’t working) but I have already thrown out as many cheap not-fit-for-purpose USB-C cables as Lightning, 30-pin dock, micro-USB and even mini-USB cables combined.
We used to wear helmets whenever we rode after witnessing a fatality on the Great Victorian Bike Ride when we were teenagers.
Dude had his helmet hanging on his handlebars, came off at speed and skidded on his head. When the Ambos came (they weren’t called Paramedics back then), he was still alive, but his brain was exposed.
