News@lemmy.world•Man shot multiple times in another Minneapolis shooting, Walz confirms: Live updates
48·13 days agoI will never understand how we can push the second amendment so hard, and then use having a gun as an excuse to kill civilians. Furthermore, I will never understand how the 2A crowd will then also use that excuse as a justifiable reason for someone to be killed by law enforcement.
“No, bro, the way I carry MY gun is totally different. He wasn’t doing it right.”
Oh man, I hope he checks his truth social for his official correspondence with the US.

News@lemmy.world•Immigration officers assert sweeping power to enter homes without a judge's warrant, memo says
12·16 days agoI understand, however in the article it states “The shift comes as the Trump administration dramatically expands immigration arrests nationwide…”
There’s a reason this started in areas such as Minnesota. I fully believe this is just trial runs and laying the (il)legal framework to handle more difficult areas.

891·21 days agoI recently ran into this issue with a coffee pot. I was specifically hunting for a coffee pot with an adjustable temperature warmer. Ordered one that specifically stated that in the description, only to receive a coffee pot that did not have that feature. Checked the model number on the box versus the listing, and it’s the same. Then I saw the fine print: we are not responsible for inaccurate product information.
I do think there is a middle ground solution, at least for the US. Accountability and third party oversight would go a long way to ensuring everything stayed above board.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What common American habits do people find quietly annoying?
5·1 month agoThis has always gotten under my skin as well. I generally downplay it to make my job sound as common as possible, and I do not return the question. What I do for money has very little influence on who I am or what I enjoy.

California@lemmy.world•California's ban on openly carrying guns is unconstitutional, appeals court rules
13·1 month agoI’m a bit confused. Does this mean that each and every state that does not allow open carry is unconstitutional? I also do not see how “there are requirements to carrying a firearm” equates to “you cannot carry a firearm.”
