  • You’re both right, but seems like you’re both just trying to prove the other wrong. Keep protesting, keep showing up, but imagine how much more effective it would be if those protesters were armed. Openly armed. You don’t even need to bring ammo, just make it clear that the left - that most Americans can fight too.

We’re probably not voting our way out of this, we’ll just vote it back into the shadows. ICE has been around for decades, surveillance state for decades, broken police system for centuries (?), liberal/neoliberal economy for decades, our government more and more a plutocracy for decades which has held the monopoly on violence.

Solutions via option A or B would be great, but the threat of option C must be on the table. If you’re holding a gun and I’m holding a sign, then we aren’t negotiating on equal footing.

  • No, RoboCop 2 is alright. RoboCop is probably my favorite movie. RoboCop 2 is good, not as deep, not as gratuitous, nor perfectly campy as the first but good enough for a watch. 3 is not, don’t waste your time… Even Peter Weller didn’t come back.
The remake totally missed the mark; had some interesting ideas and callbacks to the originated but didn’t know how to capture the tone and thought of the original and took itself too seriously.

  • I’m not in a tech field just a helicopter mechanic. I now work on the exact same helicopters I did in the Marines (I mean the same BUNOs), in the exact same hangar spaces, using some of the exact same tools… but now I’ve got better pay, my day ends after 8 hours (otherwise OT), I know I’m getting the weekend off (otherwise OT), all that stuff is even better since I’m union. Being the steward it’s easier to tell my boss to fuck off on some things (Though, while I was in it was more forgivable to physically fight my bosses and coworkers), and I still get socialized medicine via the VA. Plus, my socialized & guaranteed basic income via VA disability. Many of my coworkers are going to school after work thanks to socialized education benefits via the VA.

It’s much more lucrative to take military OJT into the 1st Civ Div than to stay in. Plus, I get to spend time convincing my coworkers (99% former military) they’re already socialist. It’s heartwarming how many are not happy with our government.

In the United States 4 years in the military is the cheat code to a better life. Unfortunately.

  • Fair point, but there must be some personal accountability. Yeah, processed food producers find ways to get us addicted with their delicious sugar but you don’t have to eat everything in front of you. You don’t have to clear your plate every time. You can sneak a walk in every now and then.
Little of column A, little of column B.
