Relying on elections is how you give away all of your political power to the wealthy class. Both parties represent the rich, we need to be organizing grassroots networks that can take political power, not ask for it.

Edit: If you’re downvoting me, did you forget that the USSR lost 25 million lives fighting the Nazis, while the US lost only 100,000?

3·2 days agoAgreed, the Iranian oil angle is a good analysis of a material reason for China to support Palestine.
When I say clout, I mean clout as a good actor on the world stage. China has to overcome decades of negative propaganda (some of which is based in truth, most is exaggerated or taken out of context, and some is outright fabricated). Actions like this promote China as an arbiter of peace and as a humane alternative to the naked barbarity of US/Western imperialism.
I don’t see why altruism can’t be a core motive for this move in addition to the strategic value. They are people, after all, who surely suffer as we do in the face of murdered Palestinian children.

101·3 days agoWell yeah, every state action done by every country is for political/strategic reasons. I think their motives are clear: 1) Help Palestine achieve liberation through passive aid; and 2) increase China’s clout on the world stage.

55·6 days agoHow about the Iraq war, the Afghanistan war, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Sudan, Myanmar, or any of the other countless places where US capitalism has incited genocide, murder, rape, and torture. Or is it only fascism when it happens inside our borders to white people?

92·6 days agoI think it’s more likely that they are trying to break through the walls of capitalist propaganda and make people realize that the USA has always been fascist-oriented and that getting rid of this latest symptom (Trump) will not fix that. After all, fascism is imperialism turned inward. We desperately need a wholesale movement away from capitalism and towards socialism to actually ensure that fascism cannot rise again.

Where did I tell people not to vote? I’m saying that if voting is the only political action you take, you are declining to have a significant impact on politics. Voting is the least effective political action you can take, but it’s still political action.
