Politics@beehaw.org•Trump FCC threatens to enforce equal-time rule on late-night talk shows
5·6 days agoThis isn’t exactly a platform to regurgitate sound bites. These folks and their teams are sharp and on top of current events. Maga shrills want to walk into a lions den, let them. Heck, these talk shows have challenged Republicans to show up.
But they have to defend their positions and actions with substance or get shredded. Nobody has to accept unbridled incompetence no matter how essential it is to any political party.
Yup. Tuning seemed to be a right PITA.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How many containers are you all running?English
2·9 days agoIt’s the oldest, but not the most powerful. Not everything I host sees a lot of activity. But things like Plex/Jellyfin/Immich found their own hardware with better GPU support, and serious A/V or disk intense processes have a full spec PC available. There is also a remote backup system in place so a couple containers are duplicates.

2·9 days agoServer 1: 5 containers Server 2: 4 containers Server 3: 4 containers Server 4: 61 containers
Basically if a container is a resource hog, it gets moved somewhere with more resources or specialized hardware.

174·11 days agoNo shit Sherlock. Were solid into this as normal now.
Remember when democrat related keywords were filtered January 2025? Yeah, “oopsies” said Meta.
You have any legal teeth of that accusation, Newsome? Otherwise it’s in the ignore bin with all the other grievances.

1·13 days agoI should point out the article OP linked didn’t mention PM2.5 directly, but one of the articles this one linked to did; focusing on women’s health specifically. They did not cite tire and brake dust specifically, not to say it is or isn’t a factor, but briefly touched on an all-encompassing “environmental” catchall and moved along. It was not discussed more than a passing mention.

372·14 days agoLife expectancy increases, increasing population with 80-year record number of non-smokers, genetic factors, autoimmune activation, and a brief mention of PM2.5 particles.
Saved you a read.

2·16 days agoI wonder how they define “Public safety agencies” since other programs refer to “Justice and Public Safety agencies”. Is this difference an oversight or is something being excluded?

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Saying "No" to New Jersey's E-Bike LawEnglish
4·22 days agoNJ would require operators of low-speed e-bikes to hold a driver’s license, register their bikes with the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC), and carry insurance.
Hmmm… While the bill does say that, it also accepts a “motorized bicycle license” to those 15+ after a basic road rules test.
Buuuut then it says:
The operator of a [low-speed electric bicycle or] low-speed electric scooter shall not be required to register the [low-speed electric bicycle or] low-speed electric scooter, furnish proof of insurance, or have a driver’s license.
So, yeah. There may be more editing to do…

1·23 days agoThe commissioner is authorized to adopt regulations either prohibiting the operation of motorized bicycles on any public road or highway with a speed limit in excess of 40 miles per hour, which in [his] the commissioner’s discretion are hazardous for the operation of motorized bicycles […] In no case, however, shall the commissioner adopt a regulation permitting motorized bicycles to be operated on any highway with a posted speed in excess of 50 miles per hour.
Although “Freeway” as defined in the bill encompasses much more than typically used in common speech.

Holdup, so the expected rate is 5 out of 19? That seems high but I have no data or experience in the topic.
