It was a great show in my opinion although some episodes were very slow at moving the plot forwards.
I didn’t even notice the slow episodes. Nice to have something that is not a reboot.
The pacing never bothered me. Then again I think Better Call Saul is the best thing ever put on television.
I loved better call Saul too! However, BCS felt like it was making artsy slow scenes for the sake of it (“look at the camera panning over the desert for like a minute”) more than Pluribus. I’m not sure exactly what I mean, but I feel like what we learned about the virus-people and the journey of Manousos was almost everything that happened plotwise since episode 2. Maybe it’s because the part with trying to connect with other people was a dead-end for Carol
Who else loved the plot and worldbuilding, but hated Carol?
I did until my friend said dude she’s grieving. Then I thought oh yeah and she was easier to watch.
She was a shithead before she was grieving as we see in all the flashbacks and episode 1.
I liked the show so far but carol is a turd. I want to see more manousos though. He seems like a badass.
Really? I don’t feel like there’s much difference in attitude and personality between Carol and Manousos thus far
Badass, for sure, but I get the distinct impression that he’s NOT a terribly good dude, either.
I could be proven wrong, since we still know so little about him, but he seems to have NO personal reason to hate the joined, like Carol does, and yet he is SO much more extreme about all this than she is. From refusing food to refusing medical care to burning his car to the extreme physical peril he puts himself through, none of his actions with regard to the joined seem like those of a reasonable person. It makes me think he’s more than just highly motivated, he’s got a few screws loose, and eventually we’re gonna see this expressed in ways other than just resisting the joined.
Looking forward to either option.
Manousos is also such a badass, that he would rather die, than make a compromise and do something that really matters.
His encounter with Carol seems to have clued him in to the idea that “wait, maybe there IS some value in interacting with them, in order to learn about them” so he’s not completely dogmatic. And yo ve fair, Carol definitely treated them the same, at first.
Something tells me she’s equally as abrasive even when she’s not, though…
I think it was partially the point, but yes I had a hard time with her
She’s not written to be likable…
I know, I’m not calling the actor bad.
Okay. The way you worded it just sounded to me as though it was a criticism of the writing.
I certainly wish we could have had a more likeable protagonist, but since I enjoyed the show, who am I to say they made a bad call? Mainly just wanted to grouse about it with others :)
I don’t hate Carol as a person, but I certainly don’t like her much. LOVE her chatacter and portrayal, and LOVE seeing someone unlikeable thrust into the situation.
