The temptation to see and do everything or the FOMO makes it difficult to stay in one place and rest. There is so much to explore! New people, new places, new food! New, new, new, new!..
I used to travel myself and I know this. Since I wasn’t interested in flying, for me it was the winters, the second winter to be precise, when I kinda realized that I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life. Wouldn’t call that burning out though.
I’m not sure exactly where O(O)P stands on this but I met a lot of backpackers who indulge either in capital hopping (there’s a friendly & cheap english speaking hostel in every one, you even meet the same people there) or festival hopping (that usually requires longer commitment to traveling & also flying). That would burn me out too.
Get to know the backroads, the small, non-touristy towns, deliberately burst your tourist-speak-english bubble.
I’ve been and seen both types of backpackers, though I always loved getting into the less well traveled places where they don’t speak English and you need to figure it out. It feels more adventurous and gives everything a little extra flavor 😁
