Sotheby’s says the 1562 picture of the fourth Duke of Norfolk set a record for an Elizabethan work.

How is that good news? The record prices only shows that the rich got too much money and don’t know what else to do with it. 3 Million is rather pocket change in this regard but the 50 and 110 Million paintings which were auctioned in the last weeks show that way too clearly.
