The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) leads the country’s risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation. FEMA strives to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the nation from a variety of hazards, including natural disasters and acts of terrorism.

Federal Emergency Management Agency

  • OpenFEMA Data Sets — FEMA provides many data sets to the public through OpenFEMA. Data is available on disaster information; emergency management, preparedness, and alerts; individual assistance; public assistance; hazard mitigation assistance; and the National Flood Insurance Program.
  • Hazus — FEMA provides models to estimate risks from earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, and hurricanes through its free Hazus software.
