I seem to recall the discussion on this was completed a couple of years ago, but since PHP6 is still being pushed back people are forgetting what was agreed and are now trying to extend the life of PHP5 ;)
"Mark things that are will become dead in 6.0 E_DEPRECATED in 5.3" "If they happen to be INI settings, disable by default in 5.3 before removing in 6.0" Those were the conclusions. I don't see anything about that worthy of either Stas' or your comment... guess mine was just the shortest email in the thread?
magic_quotes was removed from php6 by Pierre in early 2006? The requests at that time were to mark it as deprecated in I think 5.1. The fact that there will have been another two major releases before we see a version where it IS removed is the underlying problem. I'm sure I am not alone in a preference to be testing an alpha release of PHP6 rather than yet another PHP5? -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/lsces/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk// Firebird - http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php
