The official language in Slovenia is Slovene, which is a member of the South Slavic language group. In 2002, Slovene was the native language of around 88% of Slovenia's population according to the census, with more than 92% of the Slovenian population speaking it in their home environment. This places Slovenia among the most homogeneous countries in the EU in terms of the share of speakers of predominant mother tongue.

Wikipedia

In January 2012 Slovene language Wikipedia rank 34 out of 280 languages Wikipedia, with 13,3 million page view per month. As of December 2011, there are 21 very active users (more than 100 edits per month) and 173 active users (five edits per month) in the Slovene Wikipedia.[1] According to Alexa, Wikipedia is the 6th most popular site in Slovenia.

• Compared to other member states in the European Union, the position of women in Slovenia is slightly better with female employment rate of 61.8%, while in the EU it is 57.2%. Moreover, Slovenia has the second smallest gender pay gap among EU members which is 8.5% in 2008. The EU average for gender gap in the same year is estimated at 17.5 %.[2] [3]

The Foundation

During the December 2011 fundraising appeal, no Slovenian, men or women, were featured as part of the appeal. During the 2011 Summer of Research, the WMF hired eight research fellows. Of these, only one was female, and she was from the United States. There were four males from American universities, The other researchers included men from a Japanese university, a Swiss university and a Canadian university. There were no research fellows, male or female, from this country.
