Meta:Requests for bot status/DougBot

I would like to run DougBot on meta for maintenance to include the placement of tags on pages moved or being moved to mw by me (there are pages left and I've been approved on mw to move at least one large set - the migrations will be done manually via transwiki import on mw); DougBot is currently flagged on mul.ws, en.ws, and la.ws for general formatting and and maintenance tasks, extracting OCR, and removing dead links to wikipedia. I also run a separate interwiki bot on the same framework flagged on all WS projects that allow the same and I am involved in documenting the Pywikipediabot.

- Sure, I have some specific jobs to do and I didn't want to do one of them only half-way just to demonstrate or I would make the existing situation worse. So I simply tagged all of the pages in one reasonably slow run (throttle was set to 1 edit in 120 secs). I do need to back through those same pages rather soon, after I've imported them to mw from the other end, otherwise, they risk being edited, but it can wait a few days - and it will take me a little while to do all of the importing. I also note meta's bot policy states: bots must obtain community approval on the most relevant local discussion page before editing without a bot flag at high speeds or without human supervision, this suggests that the operation of unflagged bots at low speeds and with human supervision is acceptable without prior approval and is consistent with my experience on other projects (except en.WP of course), so I didn't realize there was any issue. Normally, people seem to want to see more not less before they flag, usually at least 100-200 edits, but I will stop for now and I apologize if I caused any issues. BTW, I've also stricken the ending date above, as the top of this page says this doesn't apply to bots or temporary adminships.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 08:37, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
