December 2020

December 15 – January 14: Applications are open for two WikiLearn online courses. (1) Identifying & Addressing Harassment Online. (2) Partnership Building.
December 11 – December 13: WikiConference North America 2020.
December 10: Community Resilience & Sustainability office hour.
December 8 – December 21: The voting phase on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year.

November 2020

November 19: Are you a content reviewer on Wikipedia? Give feedback to build trust levels for WikiLoop (second version).
November 16: The open video call CEE Talk No 4: Strategy 2030 recommendations and initiatives, Round 4 will be held on 19 November at 18:00 (UTC).
November 16 – November 30: The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year.
November 2 – November 16: Wiki of functions naming contest — second round of voting.
November 15: The next Wikimedia Café meeting will be on 15 November at 19:00 UTC. The topic will be the upcoming Global Council.
November 1 – November 15: Wikipedia 20 Rapid Grants applications are accepted for birthday celebration events.
November 2: The open video call CEE Talk No 3: Strategy 2030 recommendations and initiatives, Round 3 will be held on 5 November at 18:00 (UTC).
November 1: Start WAM logo Wikipedia Asian Month 2020 contest and WikiUral 2020 Logo WikiUral 2020 subcompetition with original prizes (, etc.) until November 30, 2020.

October 2020

October 15: Discussion tools has been put into beta testing environment here at MetaWiki. Also see its help page.
October 15: Sandister Tei of Accra, Ghana was announced as the 2020 Wikimedian of the Year.

September 2020

September 17: After a thorough assessment of large-scale errors at Malagasy Wiktionary, there is a poll and discussion about deleting the inaccurate material.

August 2020

August 25: There is currently a request for comment about large scale language inaccuracies on the Scots Wikipedia.

March 2020

March 17: Visit the Meta-Wiki COVID-19 Portal for information and discussions on the Wikimedia movement's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
November 14: RfC: Global ban for Kubura

October 2020

October 26: The open video call CEE Talk No 2: Strategy 2030 recommendations and initiatives, Round 2 will be held on 29 October at 18:00 (UTC).
October 24: itWikiCon 2020, the Italian language conference about Wikimedia projects, takes place with Katherine Maher, WMF Executive Director, Jimbo Wales, Wikipedia founder and Alessandro Barbero, Italian historian.
October 17: The open video call CEE Talk No 1: Strategy 2030 recommendations and initiatives, Round 1 will be held on 22 October at 16:00 (UTC).
October 13: A read-only time is scheduled for October 27. During a short period of time, you will be able to read, but not edit, all wikis. Know more about this.
October 2: Wikimedia CEE Online Meeting 2020 takes place from 2–4 October.
October 1: On 15 October 2020, livestream event to announce the 2020 Wikimedian of the Year

September 15–October 13: You may discuss and vote on a name of an upcoming Wikimedia wiki project for a library of functions.
September 15: The open video call Wikimedia Clinic #010 will be held at 13:00 UTC. Google Meet.
September 7: Community draft review for the Universal Code of Conduct is going on from September 07 until October 06, 2020. Please review the draft at the UCoC Draft Review page and leave comments and recommendations on the talk page.
September 2: Language showcase: The Language team presents a new project to improve the localization process of Scribunto modules.

June 2020

June 28: The open video call Wikimedia Clinic #004 will be held at 17:30 UTC. See page for meeting link (external on Google Meet).
June 24: There is currently a request for comment about improving the "request for comments" process itself, which for right now serves as the only dispute resolution forum for many wikis.
June 23: A community open letter on renaming is published.
June 16: The Foundation Branding Project started a survey about its renaming proposals.
June 16: The community is looking for input in regard of the aforementioned survey about the renaming and its validity in this straw poll.

May 2020

May 31: The AffCom is seeking new members! Applications are accepted from June 1 to June 30. Also everyone possible to share endorsement and comments for the June 2020 candidates.
May 11: The final document of the 2018-20 Wikimedia movement strategy process, the strategy recommendations have been published.
May 5: A proposal for a new Wikimedia project is made, Wikilambda. It provides a solution to maintain articles once, but provide them in many languages, and a new sister project to collaborate on functions.


May 30: This month's Wikimedia Café will occur on 30 May at 9:30 AM Pacific time / 12:30 PM Eastern time / 4:30 PM UTC / 10 PM IST. The primary topic will be the Wikimedia 2030 strategy recommendations. You are welcome to join the Café and to propose additional topics for discussion.

April 2020

April 3: Following a successful global request for comment, the proposed Abuse filter maintainer policy has been approved and the global usergroup has been created.

March 2020

March 28: At this month's Wikimedia Café, we will discuss the relationship between the community and the Wikimedia Foundation. You are welcome to join the Café and to propose additional topics for discussion.
March 16: Steward elections and confirmations are finished.
March 1 – March 31: Voting on the creation of "abuse filter manager" group will run from March 1 and end on March 31, 23:59 (UTC)

February 2020

February 15: You are invited to attend the monthly Wikimedia Café online meetup. This month's meetup will focus on the 2030 strategy recommendations, and will be divided into two discussions of one hour each.
February 8 – February 28: 2020 Steward elections voting is running until 28 February 2020, 13:59 (UTC)


January 2020

January 29: The 2020 members of the Ombudsman Commission have been announced.
January 20 – February 21: The last facilitated round of movement discussions on the Wikimedia 2030 strategy recommendations is taking place.
January: It is possible to share endorsement and comments for the December 2019 candidates to the Affiliations Committee.
January 15 – January 28: Candidate submissions for the 2020 Steward elections will begin on January 15 and will end on January 28. Eligible candidates can nominate themselves.
January 25: The monthly Wikimedia Café online meeting will occur. The Café will be on a Saturday and will be earlier in the day than in previous months. The agenda is here, and you are welcome to add items to the agenda.
January 19: Requests for comment/Should the Foundation call itself Wikipedia - a motion to clarify the 2030 branding movement community consultation as to whether the WMF should rename itself.
January 5: RfC: Update "Admin activity review policy"—a procedural motion to include the Interface administrator within existing review process.
