Q3090484

edit

Hi! I noticed that you blanked Fu Shan (Q3090484). I'm guessing that this is because you believe it to be the same entity as Fu Shan (Q5365790). First of all, please do not blank duplicates. We don't do that here at Wikidata. Instead we have to merge them so as to preserve any external links to the item. Second, what is the evidence that they are the same person? Specifically, how do you account for the fact that they have so many distinct identifiers? Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 03:43, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Bovlb: I don't know how to merge two different pages, but I did check the different links and they redirect to the same Chinese artist, even if the identifiers are different. Synthwave.94 (talk) 03:48, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK. I'll believe you. I'm going to go ahead and merge them for you now, but next time you should check out Help:Merge. Bovlb (talk) 03:51, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Done. We should do something about the double identifiers. Ideally we would decide that one is primary and mark it as preferred (see Help:Ranking). We should still leave the other identifier, though, as it it remains valid. What do you think about the multiple dates of birth? Thanks, Bovlb (talk) 04:00, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Bovlb: I don't know, considering that I found different birth dates such as 1602, 1606 or 1607. Synthwave.94 (talk) 04:20, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK. It's fine to have multiple dates of birth if that's what multiple sources say. See, for example, Q117425#P569. I added 1607 with your reference. Thanks for your help! Bovlb (talk) 16:19, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Merging of Harald Ludvig Westergaard items etc

edit

I've reverted your merge of Harald Ludvig Westergaard (Q6237683) and Harald Ludvig Westergaard (Q97981450). I agree that the latter appears unnecessary. but merging those 2 items is rather unfortunate though, because it resulted in misleading descriptions in Harald Ludvig Westergaard (Q6237683). Harald Ludvig Westergaard (Q6237683) is not a Wikimedia category (Q4167836) and should not be described as one. You have made several other similar merges yesterday, which I think should be reverted for the same reason.--Hjart (talk) 04:21, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Hjart: Done, I removed all misleading descriptions, but kept all the other changes. Synthwave.94 (talk) 04:32, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
