Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming is the esports division of Japanese baseball team Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS.

History[edit]

Entering League of Legends and the LJL (2019)[edit]

After the Unsold Stuff Gaming team didn't renew its contract with LJL at the end of the 2019 Season for the next franchise year, the Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming, a subsidiary of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks baseball team, was chosen to enter the LJL franchise.

A tough year (2020)[edit]

In their first season (2020), the first-ever roster of the team was formed by Korean Top laner Kim "DasheR" Deok-beom, Korean Jungler Lee "Tussle" Moon-yong (recognized as a Japanese resident by Interregional Movement Policy (IMP) from Riot), Japanese/Chinese Mid laner Osamu "Ramune" Ozawa, Korean Bottom laner Park "Honey" Bo-heon, and the Japanese Support Norimitsu "Pooh" Hosogai, with Naoya "Arumik" Kimura being the substitute. That team finished the season with just 8th position in the Spring Split and 5th-6th in the Summer Split, when they lost to Crest Gaming Act 3:1 in the first round of Playoffs.

Grounded (2021)[edit]

For the 2021 season, Ramune, Honey, Pooh, Arumik and Awaker left the team to Ryo "apaMEN" Odagiri, Jeon "Zenit" Tae-gwon, Australian/Japanese Ian "Corporal" Pearse, and Park "Squirtle" Hyeon-woo arrived. Plus, DasheR changed his position from Top to Mid lane and Coach Sweet changed from Coach to Head Coach. But they were eliminated twice again in their first round of Playoffs to V3 Esports (Spring 3:2, SummerSummer 3:0).

Big Changes (2022)[edit]

Big changes occurred for the 2022 season when apaMEN announced his retirement from LoL Pro scene; Corporal, Zenit and Coaches Squirtle and Sweet left the team. In addition, Tussle changed his function as a player to be the Coach of the team with the Korean Head Coach Kim "Ares" Min-kwon. The new roster was formed by: Top laner Yuto "Kinatu" Enomoto, former [player] and Bottom laner Rei "Marble" Shimaya, two Japanese promises of Japan scene. Jungler Blank, previously SKT Telecom T1 player and Worlds champion in 2016, DasheR, and Japanese Support Shin "Raina" Okubo, LJL Champion in 2020 with V3 Esports. One more time, in the Spring Split, they were eliminated in the First round of Playoffs for Burning Core, but in the Summer they got to the Semifinals when lost to Sengoku Gaming 3:1 in a one-sided series.

A Great Year (2023)[edit]

Oh "Vsta" Hyo-seong arrived for the 2023 season to replace Raina. In the Spring Split, SHG lost to DetonatioN FocusMe 3:0 after playing against them for the their first time in the LJL Playoffs, this loss resulted in a 3rd-4th place. In the Summer Split, SHG became the second force in the league facing DFM two more times during Playoffs when lost to them at the Upper Bracket Finals 3:2 and at the Grand Finals (the first offline LJL Finals since 2019) 3:2 for DFM again.
