“The Flowing Light of the Deity” is one of the most important German works of women's mysticism.
Mechthild of Magdeburg (c.1212 - c.1282) was the first woman to write poetry in German as a mystic and theologian in the 13th century.

She did not spend the majority of her life in a monastery, but lived in the middle of the city of Magdeburg and took part in life. As a woman, she discussed in the social discourses of the time, which was extremely unusual. With her contemporary criticism of the real religious life in the church, she consequently caused a sensation.

Her book “The flowing Light of Deity” describes the mystical process of the marriage of the human soul with Christ and represents her life's work.

What does this have to do with ambient music?

I began this album with the thought that it is often an arduous path to want to explore the secrets of life that have to do with spiritual growth, with personal maturity. You often try, fail and start all over again, until perhaps success rewards all effort, whatever that may look like individually.

Scott had the inspiration during our collaboration to connect this woman, who has clearly lived her convictions passionately and without compromise, to these sounds.

The intensity of the sounds of our album carries her passion into our time.
