Wait. Are these motorcades just staged and ready in every country they might visit? Or do they fly the vehicles ahead of them?

“Jesus, these Italians oughtta do something about this shitfuck traffic.”

“Sir, the motorcade is quite literally 100% of the traffic in the city.”

“It’s only 40 cars, why can’t they build us a 40 lane road? Is this not a first world Christian nation?”

You know about that african dictator that used to block streets to do a phone call on a folding chair on the street (to assert dominance)? They want to be like him. Ape stuff, truly.

May we ask some of what you were banned for? Just voting or comments? I always drop accounts after a 2nd violation so I don’t get permabanned but want to quit completely as their violations are usually not against the rules, and often I think for other reasons, dishonest.

I’m sure the other 39 cars will be a lot of help.

You wouldn’t even need to bother with the bomb, just shoot him when he gets out of the car his smug face is a pretty big target.

So, some of them believe they have the authority to use their siren and act like Italian police, almost causing an incident in the process.

I’m sure everything will turn out well.

That’s probably some Secret Service thing, because the threat of poisoning is actually real. In America, the Secret Service goes to great lengths to vet potential restaurant stops wherever the POTUS/VP is going to be. But they don’t exactly have jurisdiction to do that when they’re in another country.

Notably, Trump’s love of fast food has made the Secret Service’s job extremely frustrating… He apparently has a tendency to just spontaneously demand a drive-thru stop, giving the Secret Service no time to actually run security checks on the staff ahead of time.

From a security perspective, these only serve to create an extensive roadblock - and a traffic jam as seen at the end. Disable one in front, one in rear, and you’ve got them kettled. Plus, as you can see, it’s a very slow moving convoy. A dozen bike cops and two cars (Couchfucker + security detail) would be sufficient.

Whoever came up with this idea should be fired.

Neo has a really good video on the presidential motorcade and how it works. It is completely absurd in a place like Milan, certainly, but every part of it is there for a reason.

Here is that video on Nebula

And here it is on YouTube

        One size doesn’t fit all.

Moreover, the president is getting the treatment of a king. They are ostensibly fungible assets. There’s a succession plan. The more they’re protected, the more they’re a target (and invading foreign countries doesn’t help).

and looking at their license plates, around half of them have US ones, which means those cars were probably flown in. or do they have a standing motorcade for Europe? I saw one car had german plates…

I had the same impulse when seeing that convoy. I think there should be enough stuff from the war in ex-yugoslavia floating around, and with the current political climate there shouldn’t be an issue finding 50-100 people to place on rooftops.

I guess from a security perspective it also helps to obfuscate Vance’s whereabouts. It’s difficult to know which one of the 40 vehicles he’s actually in.

Obfuscation is part of the motorcade, but not to the extent you would think. The motorcade has two presidential limos, and the POTUS is typically put in one while the VP is put in the other. Or in this case, the second limo would simply be empty. The order of the limos is random. The idea being that if you manage to bomb one limo, you’d only get either the VP or POTUS, and you’d have no way of knowing which one you got until after the fact. And that’s assuming the bomb is even effective, because the presidential limos have RPG-proof windows and heavy armored plating underneath the body panels.

Most of the motorcade is focused on things like landmine detection, biological weapon detection, chemical weapon detection, standby security forces in case they need to fan out/circle the wagons and create a secure perimeter, on-site medical staff, monitoring local radio chatter, jamming equipment to activate in case of an attack, etc…

You’re right. Only the first two vehicles show signs of armouring. I don’t think that all this theatrics would happen and then not put the cargo in the armoured car. But I’m not an expert, just a critic

He’s in one of two cars, they’re easily identifiable. The rest are various security assets. Armed dudes, jamming suites, surveillance, etc.

It’s them applying the same strat as in the US even though they are in Milan and the roads are twice as narrow.

I suppose they think there is so many cars it would be hard to know in which the couch fucker is. But still you are correct to say that convoy could be easily completely blocked. And in that case you could have an army to defend it it would be a very bad situation.
