De Kumasi College of Technology offer admission to ein first students to de engineering faculty for 1951 insyd (dem enter for 1952 insyd), den de Act of Parliament give de university ein legal basis as de Kumasi College of Technology for 1952 insyd.[7] Dem form de college ein nucleus from 200 teacher training students wey dem transfer from Achimota College for Greater Accra region insyd. Dem affiliate de college to de University of London. For 1961 insyd, dem grant de college full university status.[8]

Na dem officially commission de Obuasi campus for 4 November 2020 despite ein inception insyd de year 2019. Der be six halls of residence at de Kumasi campus, each administered by a hall council wey dey consist of senior den junior members.
