History

Na initially Bayero University be Ahmadu Bello College. Dem name de college after de Premier of Northern Nigeria, Ahmadu Bello. Dem found am insyd January 1960 by de Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education head by Isa Kaita make e prepare senior secondary certificate holders for General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) den A-level insyd Arabic, Hausa, Islamic History, Islamic studies den English Literature.[1] Upon de establishment of Ahmadu Bello University insyd Zaria, Kaduna State, na dem rename Ahmadu Bello College go Abdullahi Bayero College, after Abdullahi Bayero, Emir of Kano[2] den soon thereafter e cam turn faculty of de fresh varsity.

Initially edey locate for de grounds of de School of Arabic Studies near de palace of de Emir, de college move go location for de old Kano Airport Hotel, wer dem remain til March 1968, wen e move go Western Kano make e make way for military hospital (de Nigerian Civil War start de previous year). De first students begin dema studies insyd February 1964, wey dem graduate insyd July 1966.

Insyd 1975, de college cam turn university college, wey dem rename am Bayero University College, plus Mahmud Tukur as principal. Insyd 1977, dem give am university status as Bayero University, plus Tukur as vice-chancellor. Insyd 1980, de varsity cease dey function as faculty of Ahmadu Bello University insyd Zaria.[2]
