Publisher Bushiroad Games and developer Eighting are working on Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, a three-versus-three fighting game that is based on the manga and anime of the same name. It’s no doubt great to see the franchise return to the videogame world, and the dev team involved definitely knows how important it is to get things right.

In an interview with Dengeki Online, the Eighting team talked about working hard to ensure that they respect both the Hunter x Hunter franchise and the millions of fans it has around the world. Walking that line of creating something new while honoring the game’s namesake is no easy task, and Eighting is taking things seriously.

As much as possible, we tried to make it in a way not to ruin the image of the original work, or stray too far from the premise, making allowances for areas that may be a little strong for a fighting game. There were also fans of the original work involved in the development, and if our realization didn’t match their image, or if it felt too weak, we made adjustments until it did match.
