the implementation may not be sufficient as section "Tracking PDF Download (in current window)" of
http://www.blastam.com/blog/index.php/2011/04/how-to-track-downloads-in-google-analytics/
points out. But setTimeout will still be a race condition...

As long as everything is still a link-- then sure, either way works. Up to you, @sjrd :)

As the auto-comment above just mentioned, I suggest to use a timeout in #33. It is easy to implement, unobtrusive, and should work well in most cases.
